I doubt whether the Sun have any deeper knowledge than you do.

Does he have a smaller turning circle than an oil tanker and does he have any sort of turn of pace? If the answer is yes to both then what do we have to lose?

Woodcote Royal
Hoop Blah We may well have a chance yes, but it's still a completely different scenario to getting an unwanted experienced pro in from a side in the same division with a view to a perm deal.

The lad has only been with Spurs for 6 months, a couple of them during the close season and a month or so more out on loan to Preston. He might have a long term future with Spurs or he might not. It's all a bit early to tell so far.

Surely it's better to have a young, and hopefully improving, player for a season who already has World Cup experience rather than a seasoned pro deemed not good enough to make the grade at Spurs.

Like Bertrand before him, this guy seems perfect for our level now but could be way out of our league in 12 months time unless we're promoted. Providing our share of his wages is sensible, this is a cost effective means of strengthening the squad and one that might not have been open to us without the improving record of our academy.

I didn't say anything about his age or experience being a good or bad thing, just that taking him on is a completely different scenario to that or Legiertwood. The post was in response to someone using Legiertwood as an example of a loan that became a permanent signing and benefitted.

Short term squad improvement or covering glaring gaps in our resources is quite appropriate but it can come at the cost of long term team development.

Independant Spurs fansite says its a done deal:

Tottenham Hotspur defender Bongani Khumalo has joined Reading on loan for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old South African spent time on loan at Preston at the end of the last campaign and his move to Reading does not involve an option to purchase the player at the end of it.

Khumalo’s loan deal is purely for the player to get some more first-team experience with the hope that he returns back to us next season ready to compete for a place in the Spurs first team.

Also I thought 'Arry said there was a January recall clause

EDIT - http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDet ... 23,00.html - the OS confirms Tottenham can recall him in January.

Isn't that just in case most of the eleven(!) other defenders that Spurs have get injured in the 1st half of the season
