how so? both stadiums couldn't be more different. architect is about all i see in common.

You'd need to have seriously bad eyesight to believe the Madejski is a clone of the McAlpine though. One is a bowl, which the other is 4 individual stands. Each of theit stands is curved, while our are straight.


While the Madejski is hardly going to rival the works of Antoni Gaudi for its design, I think many who call it an "identikit bowl" are used to only seeing it on tv, and believe its one tier all round. I often read it listed as being a boring single tier bowl.

I think the ground the Madejski most closely resembles in the New Eden of Slavia Prague, although their roof is a bit different at the ends due to their top tier not blending in the way ours does.

The Reebok Stadium was completed a year before the Madejski and was built by the same construction company.

most grounds were pretty identikit in the old days too - an Archibald Leitch stand, maybe a covered side and two open terraces

one pretty awsome stand that wouldn't look out of place in any league in the world, but three very small stands to compensate. it also looks like it's been built inside a warehouse. looking forward to going there this season.

We've had a period of intensive ground-building over the past 20 years. New grounds automatically feel less character-ful, particularly if they're out of town. I'd guess that things will improve as the grounds age and the areas around them develops.

Sensible club. Amex charge twice as much for processing a payment as other card providers do, that's why so many places don't accept them.

And I thought that it was supporters that created an atmosphere and not the ground in which you are stood or sat. Or is the point you are trying to make is that there is no wow factor? The only grounds I have been in when empty that have had a special aura about them are Villa Park and Old Trafford (going back to 1989). Must admit, the new Wembley is a bit tasty though.
