So we apparently reject £7.5m from Leicester and £8m from West Ham yet we accept £6m from West Brom? :| :?

CayeneMatt Didn't take a rocket scientist to work out something was afoot .....

1. Shane was last on pitch and gave his shirt away.
2. Hammond was in front of the tunnel waiting for him

Yes was pretty obvious i thought and just hope the deal works out for us well.

£6m is a good fee but wouldn't mind cox as well with that :P

All the best shane, could have at least scored the winner for us on saturday!

Cox won't be coming this way according to JF

...because we don't want to sell him to a competitor???

Suspect that the WBA deal will be £6M mainly upfront, whilst offers from West Ham / Leicester probably included a significant proportion based on promotion (although if McD is to be believed there never was an offer from Leicester)...

I think apparently is the key word here.

A well known BBC reporter just told me SL doesn't actually want to go (from a club source). Although BMc says he wants to play in the prem league. (Shane not him)

Course he wants to go, who would not want to step up to undoubtedly the best league in the world and increase your salary???

Good luck to him, maybe he will be sad to leave the set up that made his name but nevertheless he will move on as will me in time

possibly because strengthening our rivals for promotion could cost us two million quid at least?

£6m to a Prem club would be good business. Doubt we'll get Cox in partX. Hopefully we can use some of it to sign a decent pacey left back and a new striker / goalscoring attacking midfielder. I actually think our attacking options are pretty good so LB biggest priority for me.

Our attacking options are: Church, Hunt, Manset and that bloke we signed last season who I've never seen - was it Brett Williams? I'd hardly say our attacking options are fine, without Long.

pacy young LB, sign sonks, then wait for prem league loans to supplememt the defence or attack if and when required.

whether you think they are good enough or not, BMcD isnt the type to go out and buy unless needed. and im sure we'll see him give hunt churchy and manset a real go until january.
there are simply other areas that need strengthening more imo.and the whole point of our club set up is to give these guys a chance first. & if it doesnt work, then well change it.

Interesting. Perhaps Long will say no.

Kinda agree. That's two average players, one developing and one punt with longs odds. Can't see anyone from that lot replacing Shane's goals or even his all-round presence.

Interesting if true. I think that would be a good move for him. A partnership with Odemwingie could be excellent.

Will much of the money be available? Maybe loan in a more experienced striker and sign a CB/LB?

Add to that Hal R-K....
Brett Williams seems a bit of an unknown, but he did take a pretty good hatrick at Farnborough last week - good positioning, got himself in the right place at the right time - I was reasonably impressed...

I'm fairly happy with that setup - biggest risk is Hunt picking up an injury....but I can see our starting strikers being 2 from Hunt, Church, Manset and HRK - largely depends on the fitness levels of Manset, can see Brian going with Hunt / Manset to start with HRK as an impact sub, and one of Church / Williams also on the bench (depending if Church is over his injury) for Leicester....

Added that we are likely to only have 4 outfield players on the bench, we've got five strikers so one is going to miss out every week anyway if McD has 2 on the bench....

Money is not everything. He strikes me as the type of guy who would put family first and if they are settled here who knows.

However all the signs were there Saturday that he was off. Hugged all the players before KO, didn't seem to have his mind totally on the game, stood for a few seconds on his own after the whistle, the shirt in the crowd.

Rather like The Sig he was just a kid when he arrived here so it would be a big wrench to leave but he could certainly do a lot worse than West Brom. Good manager, play good football and will be in the side every week rather than playing the odd Carling Cup game at somewhere like Liverpool.

Hunt has an excellent scoring record when fit. I like the look of Manset and he's started the season well. Church had a duff time last year but has shown in the previous that he does have quality. We then also have HRK who also has a good goalscoring record.

I don't think it's panic stations by any stretch of the imagination.

And £6m upfront rather than £5m now and the rest on promotion etc, is more appealing to us. Assuming we get the £6m upfront of course.

B McD said "The way things are going, my experience is that weve had interest from lots of clubs in the Premier League and once someone makes a bid then four or five will make a bid."

Wonder if the bidding war will take place now or was that just hopeful speculation?

Weirdly Chris Lepkowski who is apparently quite ITK at WBA hasn't mentioned anything about this but tweeted 12 hours ago that no signings were close :?
