rhroyal Sky reporting £4.5mill rising to £6.5mill. Obviously not entirely trustworthy, but that sounds like a bit of a let down.

just reported believed to be around 7m

Not bad for half a decent season. I hope he does well and I wish him luck.

Goals for Reading FC:
Dave Kitson - 60
Kevin Doyle - 56
Shane Long - 54

Marvelous.

Although I believe that puts the current club top scorers as:
Noel Hunt - 25
Jimmy Kebe - 23
Simon Church - 17
Ian Harte - 11
Jobi McAnuff - 8

Lets put a bit of effort into improving that over the next few months shall we lads?

A good deal for the club and Simon Cox can come to us for £2 million or so.
Incidentally a big whoosh to all of those posters that said he would go to a big club-this is a yo-yo club like Wolves,West Ham,Birmingham etc and will probably be in the dog fight to avoid relegation especially as they haven't addressed their real problem, defence.
They have the same centre-backs and full-backs that struggled last season and previously in The Championship.
Good luck Shane, you will need it,and thanks for getting our club £4.5 million.

If Cox was coming to us wouldn't he already be here?

John Madejski spouting more bollocks :|

"We'll miss him as a player and a person, but I'm sure his mum Anne will come and watch a few games and it wouldn't be a shock to see Shane on one of our supporter coaches because he's a real Reading boy. It goes without saying but we wish him all the very best."

One thing I hate about every transfer deal to do with RFC. Undisclosed, undisclosed, undisclosed!! (and yes i realise it's the same at most clubs nowadays but we probably started the trend).
Anyway, best of luck Shane. Good move for you in my eyes. Fancy West Brom with Woy in charge personally.

good luck shane. you deserve your chance but i'm not expecting it to work out in the premiership. when we meet again in the championship, if indeed we stay here ourselves, you are guaranteed a warm welcome. £6m is mental maths for shane long though. well done hammond on another marvelous piece of business.

I'm sorry to see him go, he wasn't a typical striker but he had something about him that we will seriously miss. Great leap, good pace and latterly some decent skill on the ball. He often won close games for us on his own with his goals, assists, and penalties. I've long since forgiven the misses this time last year when he couldn't score for toffee.

We've still got the remnants of a decent team but we will need another striker and a bit of luck. A slow and leaky defence and blunt attack mean it's lower mid table for us.

On the basis that it won't be used for the benefit of the club (except of course to help fill the rapidly expanding "black hole").
