Victor Meldrew A big whoosh to all of those posters that said he would go to a big club
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Are you for real :|

Why would anyone who insisted we'd be lucky to get £3m for Long start whooshing others because he didn't go to a big club? Few got things more wrong than you.

This feels like the end of era to be honest. I'm both delighted for the young kid who signed for next to nothing and whose mum came over to look after him :P but totally gutted to think I'll never see him in the hoops again

All the very best, Shane, will be checking your progress every week.

Half way through last season a lot of supporters thought Long was good enough, he was crticised by many week in week out.

Did it bother him or McDermott, no.

Good business for RFC as they paid £30k and probally sold for £8m+???

RobRoyal LOL at this big attitude about selling to a Championship club.

Seriously, who gives a fvck? Sell him to West Ham, he can help them beat all the bottom-half clubs and give our survival campaign a boost.

Doubt anyone would want to go to a Championship club if a Prem team comes up.

This is just a rumour, but I heard that the fee was undisclosed.

It's worth remembering that Shane's contract was extended for a year, just a year ago.

Kudos to RFC, Mac and Hammond for making us around 6 Million when we could have lost Shane for nothing.

I'm sorry...?

Surely you know that Hammond is nothing more than a squeaky voiced spiv?

Yes, it's awesome that they keep remembering to renew our players' contracts. Well done all.

EDIT: they probably have all the dates written in some diary or something.

RobRoyal, it's not as obvious as you think. Watford lost Cowie on a free to Cardiff because Mackay knew that they hadn't got round to renewing his contract and leapt in on the day he was available. Hammond certainly gets top dollar for our players.

The Times says the fee was "about £7 million".
