Bristol Paul There were a few from the record breaking 2005/6 team, which while not individual goals were fantastic team goals due to the speed we seemed to hit teams on the break that year, sometimes giving the appearance of having twice as many players on the pitch as the opposition. One that does stick in my mind that year was from De La Cruz I think, breaking out from the back, a 1-2 with someone I cant remember and finishing brilliantly

06/07 season home to Sheffield United

"Nogan's done well.......he's done really well......he's scored a super goal"

Would be a good goal in any game. But add in the immense nature of the occasion and it becomes a great goal. The little feint just before he shoots just caps it off beautifully.

Lita's 30 yard screamer in the cup against west brom 05/06, the build up for me was something you would see from a top premier league team, absolute class.

Seen some classics over the years, Stuart Beavon got a fabulous solo effort against Gillingham a few years ago, that was about as good as it gets, but the utmost best ever no question as previously said on this thread Robin Friday, for anyone of the crowd there its an easy decision, Clive Thomas refereed that game and was close to Friday as the ball flew in, he stood there with both hands on his head in amazement.

The "fluke" of the century was Tommy Youlden against Rochdale, free kick twenty yards out, the ball rebounded off the outside of the goal but the ref gave it.

Archie's penalty I'll be talking about the goals I've seen in 30 years time. The adulation of Friday on here always gets my goat.

Why does it get your goat ?

Doyle scored a very underrated goal against Hull in the record breaking season. Caught it on his knee and in the same motion bicycle kicked the ball in the net. Forster against Sheff U at Bramell Lane.

SLAMMED Lita's overhead kick against Palace. The fact that it sealed a 3-2 comeback made it all the more sweeter.

Some good goals mentioned so far but this is the best I've seen (probably anyway). Honourable mentions to the Tait freekick, Kitson at Bradford, Nogan at Wembley and Little at Plymouth.

The Friday love is irritating as most of us don't remember it and so it excludes us. Also we can't see the goal so there's no way of verifying what you say.

It has to be Jimmy Quinn's goal against Wolves (forget which season but think it was when Jim and Mick were joint managers and had to win to fight off relegation) when he was quite a way outside of the wolves' goal area, back to the goal as well and at a difficult angle, he somehow (if my memory serves me right) flicked the ball up in front of him and turned and swivelled and hit the ball on the volley over his head...truly incredible and stuff Roy of the Rovers is made of!!! I think David Downs mentions this goal in one of his books as well.

Think that's the goal I thought of and forgot about whilst writing my post above!

I always thought it was against Bristol Rovers though, and in my mind it was followed by some guy in the North Stand needing treatment by the paramedics for a heart problem.

I may well be mixing up my games here though.

I'd say Robin Friday's goal against Tranmere was the best I've ever seen from an RFC player.

Video footage or it never happened...

in all seriousness, can someone explain Friday's goal?
Back to goal 20 yards out, ball comes to Friday, poss chest, then a couple of keepy ups, leaving ball aroud chest height, twisted and caught ball with right foot to shoot home,to score what is simply the best ever RFC goal, why was it so good? Because he knew exactly what he was doing, no fluke about it.

That's a pretty good description. Reading were 2-0 up after two first half John Murray penalties. Ball came in from the left. Friday chests it down, juggles, swivels and hits a big dipper that actually hit the bottom corner of the net. In the context of Division 4 footy, it was stunning.

The only goal that I have seen since that comes closest to execution is Thierry Henry's effort against Man Utd in 2003.
