The real saviour of RFC (Roger Smee) initially fitted that description well. Sadly his other businesses started to go tits up and he had to sell up.
Spot on. It's such a shame that so many RFC fans do not appreciate just what Roger Smee did for our club. He quite literally saved it from extinction, and the fact that he DID pour his own money into it, (rather than merely loan the club money as Mr Mad has done), was a major factor in his financial demise.
Anyone know what he's doing now? He's only 63 this year, so is younger than Mr Mad, but I doubt he has sufficient funds to buy back in. Shame, as he had the vision and ambition to take this club forward. Mr Mad has developed the Smee agenda to fruition, but Roger Smee provided the template.
