The last time I was this happy about a signing was when we bought Shaun Goater.

Reading FC sign Gorkšs from QPR

by royalhaven » 24 Aug 2011 15:38

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDet ... 20,00.html

I think I am thrilled by this signing. All, or most, points are positive. Although at that size he is probably not very pacey. But my question is why did he want to leave? His stated goal is to get back to the BPL with Reading...but he was already there. Not followed QPR but I would guess he's been told he is surplus to requirements? If so, why?

Hmm, blond, bit rugged looking - could he be my replacement for Matt Mills?? IN!!!!!!!

He has too many "S" in his name though

Excellent signing. QPR always looked rock solid with him at the back, and at 900k much better value than spunking 3M on Robinson that Andrew was suggesting we do.

A good signing and the team will look more balanced for it. I'm not sure why everyone is so desperate for a new striker. I'm feeling confident today (as opposed to last night) that the strikers can step up when needed. As has been pointed out, we didn't have a 'proven' striker last year either but made the playoff final.

Brian's talking the right kind of language about everyone calming down a bit and the end of the transfer window can't come soon enough for me. Time to fire up the renowned man-management skills and hopefully we'll get back on course for a top half finish and playoffs.

RTGs back on bitches. Amazing what a transfer can do.

Yes, love the signing. Solves one, and the biggest, of our two most pressing problems. 8)

You what?? I never said anything with regard to should be buying Robinson for £3m. If you'd like to prove otherwise, be my guest - I've got all day.

Ooopps. Sorry, it was Andrew. It's easy to get all you Madejski bashers mixed up sometimes  . Anyway, apologies.

My QPR friend in the office says he's a good player - but believes he's not required this year as he'd be hideously exposed for pace. Apparently, very slow - but reads the game exceptionally well, is very physical in the air, and is not afraid to put his head in front of a boot and so on. No nonsense.

Them signing Gabbidon probably. I guess he wants to be first choice, it's not a big distance to move, get's to wear a similar kit, oh and I'd value not having to listen to that prick Warnock every day as well.

Sorry i posted this in the other thread..... but my friend who is always down at QPR games believes he has zero pace, as you speculate on. But he has exceptional reading of the game, is physical, great in the air and is not afraid to get hurt in a tackle..... he really likes him, but believes he's not getting picked as he'd be exposed for pace in the top flight. But then.... he just types on a spreadsheet all day, so it's purely his uneducated opinion.
