mr_number Nah, there was a big pitch invasion just after we moved to the Madejski I think where half the East stand ran over to the dugouts.

I don't remember that, but PANTS day was a top protest.

Palace at home at EP lost 6-1. SJM describe us as rabble?

That was at Elm Park

Did you think EP stood for Evening Post?

Stoke smashing FC Thun to get into the Europa League. Just think, only 3 years ago we were a division above them and before that we played them every season for about 12 seasons in a row. Won't be playing them again in the league for a long, long time I suspect.

Royal Rother Oh Lordy.

You must be impressed, Rother. Stoke have taken 'our' model.....and improved on it immeasurably.

Fair point that. Plus being owned by a successful business helps...

Oh I am impressed but it's built on debt / injections from Coates & Co.

If anyone's interested this is a superb blog on the subject by a Stoke City fan. Long, but very interesting.

I think he's an Arsenal fan rather than a Stoke fan but its a very good blog. The Wigan entry makes interesting reading.

And if we'd only beaten Watford at home, then we would have beaten them there by four years...

They have spent £60m on players transfer in the past 6 years, the 8th highest in England. I hardly think this is the Reading model, spending more than Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton....

Actually we did - we had first dibs on but declined the Intertoto!

I remember a pitch invasion after a pretty dire 0-0 draw with Cambridge just before Martin Allen came to the club. Was hardly a "big" pitch invasion though, about 150 people. We were in the bottom 4 of League 1 at the time and hadn't won in about 3 months

Seems they're no longer taking the prudent spending route anyway - looks like their spend today will be in the region of £22M - admittedly it would be nice to have an owner with spending power, but that's not the case with us, so it would be pretty stupid to be jealous.....

You know the games up when clubs like Stoke spend 22 million on players. What chance have we got? It was'nt that long ago I went to the Brittania on a freezing mid week for a mid table first division game, there must have been about 6,000 there we won 4-0 Mceever? I think that was his name scored a hat trick. Never mind Delilah and the loudest fans in the Prem, that night buy 21:30 the only fans left in the ground were a few hardy souls who had travelled up from Berkshire.

The difference being, Stoke got some success and built on it, we got some success and, basically, cashed in our chips.
