here's a great clip of Wokingham's win in the previous round. Not just for the wildly overdone music and crowd noise, but for the groundhopper getting irate at 1 minute in because the ref has kicked off early.

...he's well known in G'hopping circles: the guy's been 'banned' from organized Groundhop Days and Weekends cos he's forever moaning about something to whoever will listen and is quite often worse for wear - known as Hypo or Barry the Tw@t. :lol:

NB Not that I spose anyone was considering it ... but DON'T try and go to Kings Langley vs Enfield is the first tie on my list above - home side removed from Cup and Stotfold re-instated - not sure why - probably 'illegible' player. :wink:

Absolutely gutted! Went and saw Romford beat Royston Town 3-2 in the Cup and they had sold out of programmes.Great main stand with proper terracing in front. Shame about the other three sides which were non descript at best.

Round up of yesterday's results (and some of this PMs)

FA Cup Preliminary Round

98 Newport Pagnell Town 1-1 Thame United
99 Wokingham & Emmbrook 3-0 Kidlington
100 Bedfont Sports 1-1 Hanworth Villa
101 Beaconsfield SYCOB 2-1 Northwood

108 AFC Hayes 4-2 Tring Athletic
109 Chalfont St Peter 4-2 Aylesbury
110 Burnham 2-1 Ashford Town (Middx)
111 North Greenford United 2-1 Bedfont Town
112 Staines Lammas 2-2 Harefield United
113 Marlow 1-0 Thatcham Town
115 Badshot Lea 0-1 Chertsey Town
121 Crawley Down 2-1 Farnham Town
131 Chessington & Hook Utd 0-1 Hythe Town
133 Bognor Regis Town 5-1 Camberley Town
141 Sholing 9-1 Newbury :(
142 Shrewton United 0-1 Hungerford Town
143 Fleet Town 4-3 Alton Town
144 Wimborne Town 1-2 Godalming Town
145 Whitchurch United 2-1 Brading Town
148 Winchester City 1-3 Blackfield & Langley
150 Alresford Town 1-4 Hartley Wintney
156 Fairford Town 1-3 Cinderford Town

... went to Corinthian 0-9 Maidstone Utd - carnage 2nd half - home keeper had the kind of 20' spell he'll have nightmares about missed three through balls and might have been at fault with 2 others. Very quaint purpose built ground in the middle of nowhere tucked away beyond Brands Hatch.

another notable score:

Yate Town 10 (TEN) -1 Melksham - a certain Mr Meaker (probably) came off the bench to notch the 10th in injury time.

Sunday
Aylesbury United 0-0 North Leigh

Slough Town 3-1 Binfield - att 291 – I popped along - game in some danger of being called off before schduled KO time what with torrential rain up until 13:45 ish. Ref held up KO for 20 mins to see if it would stop and drain - which it did. Sluff ahead on 6’ , Moles equalized early 2nd half (good interplay at speed and trademark clever finish from I Davies) went behind to a pen on the hour, then conceded a third on 90’ - good contest - Rebels stronger across the park and most significantly off the bench - but 'Moles' made them work hard. Sluff @ Banbury in the 1st Q Round in a fortnight.

CONFS
Basingstoke 3-2 Dartford :)
15:30 Chelmsford 2-3 Dover
Eastbourne Borough 2-1 Havant and W
Eastleigh 0-2 Bromley

Sutton Utd 3-1 Dorchester
Tonbridge Angels 1-5 Farnborough
Truro 1-2 Maidenhead Utd :)
Welling 3-2 Woking
Weston-S-Mare 4-1 Boreham Wood - reportedly was 2-0 on 90’ ??
SOUTHP
AFC Totton 2-1 Barwell
Banbury United 0-0 Hemel Hempstead Town
Oxford City 2-1 Leamington
Swindon Supermarine 2-1 St. Albans City

Cove 4-1 Mole Valley
Molesey 0-3 Guildford City
CCL1
CB Hounslow United 5-0 Sheerwater

Knaphill 3-2 Feltham

Spelthorne Sports 4-0 Farleigh Rovers
Warlingham 1-2 Cobham
Westfield 0-5 Eversley

HELLP
Flackwell Heath 0-1 Highworth Town
Henley Town 1-1 Reading Town - late dodgy pen denied RTFC a three point haul.
Shrivenham 2-5 Oxford City Nomads
Witney Town 1-4 Holyport :shock:

HELL1E
Chinnor 1-0 Rayners Lane
Highmoor Ibis 3-1 Chalfont Wasps - good start at home for the new boys

Hayes and Yeading beat Tamworth 1-0 in the Conf Prem today

Nothing unusual about that, but the slightly familiar names of Joseph Dubois, Soares, Ujah and Crockford feature in their team (Louis,Curtis and Ryan possibly??????).

And also a crowd of 359 is double what I would've expected for this game actually played in Woking

Early days but it seems Nas (Bashir) could defy gravity and keep them up for another season

And Windsor play both of these in the next few weeks. Home to OCN in the Vase this Saturday and home to Shrivenham on 26th September in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy.

OCN currently top of the pile in the Hellenic Premier - may change a bit this midweek - they have been knocking in goals all over the shop. Put 5 past Binfield - bloke up front Haysham has notched two hat-tricks amongst his eight goals already.

Having said that, they were roundly thumped 1-5 @ Court Place Fm by 2nd placed Flackwell only last Saturday week - didn't get any noticeable feedback on relative strengths, when I queried this on the Chat Board - other than they were lightening fast but came up against an older wiser defence and were prone to errors of their own at the back.

Hellenic folk are either scathing or coy about their prospects - there always the inference that they've called upon City 1st team squad players when they are doing well - but this is usually unfounded. Their form regularly sways between awesome and awful - they started last season as the league's whipping boys - conceded over 40 odd goals in their first SEVEN games which were all defeats - even lost to Bracknell! :? Ended the season in similar fashion with 6 out of 8 defeats some of them quite puzzling - sandwiched in between these dreadful spells, their record was admirable.

Shrivvy were reprieved from relegation last season - not for the first time - are the perennial wooden-spoon contenders - only avoid this each year cos there are regularly teams around even worse than them.
Currently sit mid-table with a couple of wins in their 6 games - the OCN reverse being their worst result to date - other than that they've not encountered any 'big-hitters' so far.

Shrivvy host Witney tomorrow night - might be an indicator of where they are in terms of any improvement - the 'BlanketBoys' have been dismal so far - the name change to 'Town' doesn't seem to have done them much good.

OCN are at home to Ascot this Wed night - in the absence of much else I might pop along and report back. :wink:

...although .... I've actually got my eye on a possible N.Berks double this midweek Tue @ Drayton and Wed @ Crowmarsh - but I'm not convinced that these unlit games which KO @ 18:15 will actually last - especially if the weather is a bit sus. :?

QUERY (perhaps one for our resident NBerks expert Mr AP) Wondered why has there been a glut of postponements already this season both Midweek last week (Kintbury v Benson AFC?) and quite a few scattered around on both Saturdays - are some teams struggling to raise XIs ?
UPDATE I see Benson AFC have already postponed their scheduled game tomorrow eve vs Faringdon - they played the same opponents in the Cup last Sat - so its not as if they couldn't raise a side but more than co-incidence that their game was off last midweek too?
.... then again maybe they don't like Faringdon! :twisted:

Well the fixtures to start with FoC are a complete shambles, with certain teams not playing until well into September. I know at Stanford we have 1 game in October and none at all in December. Everyone else is in the same predicament at some point in the season. Harwell Village and International both yet to play a league game. Both of these teams home pitches are available. (Inter's 2nd pitch is) why didn't these two play each other last Sat? Or even midweek. Instead you have Benson to Kintbury, Faringdon to Benson and all these complete nonsense journeys. Unneccesary.

I'd imagine Benson to Kintbury for a 6:15 kick off was off due to Benson not being able to fulfill the fixture. OK in N Berks league nowhere is THAT far but that's probably the furthest or one of the furthest journey's in Div 1. Coupled with people's work commitments (i'd imagine the Benson lads would work around the Wallingford area, maybe Reading area) to then get to Kintbury for a 6:15 kick off is ludicrous. Even more ludicrous when Kintbury are one of the few setups with floodlights. I played there last year under the lights. So no reason not to kick off at 7:30 or whatever.

Certain games i.e East Hendred was off saturday because they share their ground with Hendred CC (who i play for) and our 2nd's were at home on saturday. Again the league being idiots.

Words can't really describe my utter contempt to how the N Berks league is run sometimes. The ideas they have are in good faith to make it a more professional setup but they just have zero common sense especially when it comes to fixtures.

..thanks for the prompt insight - I knew about lights at Kintbury & wondered why they didn't make use of them if needs be for the N.Berks - they even used them unofficially in their Hellenic days - usually nr end of season - long after the lighting was deemed not sufficient by the League.
Just as well, as their opponents for one game I attended were from Prestwood way over the other side of Wycombe - no wonder the visitors were short-handed until well into the 2nd half! :shock:
Will keep a keen eye on any other late 'fixture' changes for this MW - as you say makes no sense to play these with so many apparent gaps in the Fixture calendar.
I also know that AFC Wallingford will KO midweek games at 19:30 if their oppos agree (as Childrey did last week) - being one of the few other clubs to be able to use lights.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mind you perhaps the NBFL officials have got cousins running the Hellenic One West - 'unlit' Cricklade have been 'given' TWO early midweek KOs already early this season - which is just plain daft in a division of 17 with probably far less Cups to vy for than the N.Berks. What's more they could have scheduled games at grounds with lights if they were concerned about fixture pile-ups - there are at least 9 as far as I know?
On the face of it the early KO seemed to impact one of the visiting sides & Cricklade helped themselves to a huge 8-0 win - doubt if travel was the issue as the away side were from Clanfield - but the result certainly registered on the 'WTF-meter'! :twisted:
UPDATE Wed 7th PM - I see from FullTime that all NBerks matches last night (Tue 6th Sep) were Postponed - just as well I couldn't get out early enough anyway then. Would now assume the game at Crowmarsh will be similarly put off ?
(UPDATE - It wasn't :shock: Crowmarsh W2-0 - yet I cannot believe ANY of next weeks NBFL MW matches will take place apart from the one @ AFC Wallingford if they use their lights)
Ended up at a belting game later on @ Hellenic Premier : Kidlington 1-3 Flackwell Heath. :)
Can't get along to Oxford C Nomads v Ascot tonight now ... :( - wife neglected to tell me until late yesterday that, she's working in London today until 17:30 and I have to pick kids up from Life Guarding/Trampolining @ 19:00h
(UPDATE Result Wed night : OCN 4-1 Ascot - Windsor be warned! :?
Quite an impressive 3-0 for Windsor against Oxford City Nomads although it was made easier by a 1st half red card to the Nomads.
Windsor now look fitter and stronger and with 2 new players and a bit of shuffling positions things seemed to click quite nicely.
Royal Rother Quite an impressive 3-0 for Windsor against Oxford City Nomads although it was made easier by a 1st half red card to the Nomads.
Windsor now look fitter and stronger and with 2 new players and a bit of shuffling positions things seemed to click quite nicely.
3 players making their debuts. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, barrell of real ale sold out on the day, but strange to be supporting a team in red playing against a team in blue and white hoops. Very odd :D Can recommend the food too - very good quality and the bacon and sausage rolls very reasonably priced. But how Oxford's keeper stayed on the pitch is beyond me. Running 110 yards to join in the handbags in our 6 yard box after he had already been cautioned was plain bonkers.
Bracknell still getting thrashed every game!
Truro as well have gone right down the tubes, won their first 3 and lost their next 5 - latest being 1-2 at home to Maidenhead
