Brendans poor Dad has lost his long battle with Cancer and passed away in the early hours of this morning aged 59.

Not to detract from the sentiments on this thread, but spending on cancer research has more than doubled in the last 10 years and is over £500m a year now.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone, and especially Rodgers, he is a talented manager, and a very humble person. I was disappointed that he wasn't given a little more time at Reading, who knows what might of been.

Thank you for updating me ( not being sarcastic) but it seems like the types of cancers and amount of people with it has also doubled, thats probably way off the mark but it really just seems everyone knows someone effected directly now, it seems like its far more common now than it was in say the 50's. 60's, 70's,etc Awful disease, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I would much rather we put our taxes into healthcare and research than the million other things we are wasting our money on like wars for example.

Ca seems more prevalent nowadays because we are living longer, not dying from other preventable disease [etc] and have far better sciences to detect various forms of ca.

It's only in the last 30-40 years that people have actually spoken about cancer. For some reason prior to that, it seemed that people didn't want to talk about it.

I had no idea he'd also lost his brother. I don't like him as a manager - but you've got to have a heart of steel to not feel tremendous sympathy for the poor bloke.
