He made enough contact for it to be a foul, and he made enough contact for it to have put Adam off his stride and probably lose out on a decent shooting opportunity. Unfortunately that means you pretty much have to go down in those circumstances to make sure the ref gives the freekick.

Did he make a meal of it? Yes. Was it still a foul? Yes.

Is he a cheating and diving c**t? No, not really, he just did what he felt he needed to and, to be fair, probably couldn't have done much else.

I think Ferdinand got very lucky not picking up a second yellow for it too (and great work by Fergie in the post match interview to say he didn't deserve to be sent off for it because there were covering defenders....totally ignoring the fact that it would've been red for two yellows).

A whole 5 years and 2 months at the club - not sure of the significance of that, if you see that in the same 40 year period of the modern era, Chelsea went from 1972 to 1997 without winning a major trophy (and still at least 12 years without any sort of trophy from 1972 to 1984, even if you then count in the two Second Division titles and the two Full Members Cups they won).

There'll be double-digit years-long careers "in the modern era" played out by some boys in blue without winning a pot and don't even bother starting with Citeh players' careers - but well done for keeping the thread alive.
