Hate Aldersh1te with a passion. As a lad that went to all those games in the late 70s / early 80s they are the scum that i hate most of all. Been involved with numerous scuffles with Aldershot and certainly recall incidents in pubs around their pathetic park of a ground and station.
Their mickey mouse 2000 fans. Absolute joke of a club.

And thanks for bringing up the memory of that Easter weekend in the late 70s. Shots at home, Bournemouth away, Portsmouth at home...all in 4 days !!! Cracking weekend.

SpaceCruiser Oh yes, Oxford and Swindon do give a shit about us, just that they haven't played against us for a few years.

Oxford and Swindon care about each other. We are just another foe - not a local hate filled rivalry (at least not in Swindon during the time I have lived there).

Growing up half way(ish) between the two (closer to them really), Farnborough were a bigger club than Aldershot! Good memories of Cherrywood Road and on the occasion of going to the Rec (for schools cup finals etc.) I did wonder why there was a stadium there at all.

The bean-pole boy I punchecd at the Rec in 1971 whilst serving my hooligan apprenticeship bore a remarkable resemblance to Frimmers.

I find it hard to hate Aldershot, mainly because they are just no threat at all. Someone like Oxford or Swindon you can actually imagine (or at least remember) them having a better team and be genuinely annoyed about them being better. Aldershot, I just view the same way as I view all the local non-league clubs, and regard their hatred of us with a degree of amusement.

I mean, they are rivals, but they are comedy rivals.

I'd love another trip to the wreck. Was there in 89 for the late Beavon equaliser. I remember two things. a) a constant stream of Reading being taken out by the police all through the first half and b) a copper getting his helmet knocked off during scuffles at the end when they tried (and failed) to lock us in.

I fear a Shits visit to the Madejski though. The Y26 warriors had better be ready to back up their gobbiness with some action because our Aldershit friends will certainly be up for it.

Was thinking the same.
I fear their spotty oiks would have the upper hand on ours. The shirts over jumpers brigade would brick it.

Town centre would be a different story

I can see it now. 17 year olds with Justin Beiber hair cuts and RFC shirts over the top of their Hollister jumpers, arms spread out wide singing "fight fight wherever we maybe".
If an FA Cup draw was ever to happen, PLEASE be away from the Mong Stad

Why can't we have more of this attitude at all our games  I hope for this day now.
Always regarded Oxford as our biggest rivals tbf, then i hadn't heard of aldershot, or even considered they had a football team before 09

Historically, the in-breds down the M4 are our biggest rivals but when I started watching in the 70s they were streets ahead of us. Our rivalry with the shite grew and grew. I don't hate the shite; I simply pity them. And... they are the closest professional club to us.

Aubery Boyce
southbank1871 Definitely a bit of a :| but there is a hatred of us there from them. It’s not that surprising though as Aldershot makes Reading look like San Francisco.

In fairness San Francisco is a bit of a shithole too...

Big Foot
Compo's Hat
No Fixed Abode Did anyone go to the Aldershot friendly what must have been nearly 8-10 years ago now? I recall Ben Thornley was playing for you. It was raining bricks and stones then. Few fights in the ground and some carnage in the pub beforehand.

Remember that one as the police just stood at the other end of the ground. Some poor kid got hit in the face by an object thrown over the fence and a few rucks certainly took place.

'some poor kid' aka The Goat was Fed

And as a consequence I am one of those younger fans that hates Aldershot. I never did see what it was, just remember hitting the deck and a woman came running over to me to help me but made me panic by looking horrified because there was a lot of blood.

I was lucky it hit me so squarely in the face any lower and it would have had all my teeth, I just ended up with a massive shiner. Anyway, St John's Ambulance did their usual of providing a blanket and I was sat at pitch side when Half-time was called. Pardew saw me and invited me up for the team talk, which was pretty cool actually. I was only 14, but remember thinking there were much younger than me about and the way it was thrown, anybody could have been hit.

For ANYONE on here with any doubt, below are the Aldersh!te home league attendances for the 1983-84 season.
Your task is to guess what attendance was the visit of us.

2001
1908
2007
2644
1760
3195
1711
1856
1689
1349
6270 - give you a clue
1899
1637
1543
1629
2382
2879
3636
2865
etc etc

Boxing Day 1983 - we swarmed the place.

If you look through Aldersh!te's history, you will see that every season we played us that was their highest crowd of the season.

This thread has really got my blood boiling. I've been to that crap hole half a dozen times....seen everything. Hate them so much you wouldn't believe it. Been in all four sides of their dump, and seen plenty of action.
Bring 'em on.
Their pathetic eastbank flag waving non league gimps.
FA CUP 3rd round this year. COME ON !!! Old boy now, but the hatred is still as intense.

Nice post . They would need a new ground if we went to that dump again. All the old southbank boys would be out in force.
