support at palace

by Royals-lad14 » 28 Oct 2011 12:23

about 1,200 tickets been sold so far, with a lot of palace fans saying we have the worst away support in the league, so lets prove them wrong! cant wait for tomorrow, think we could create a great atmosphere,URZZZZ!

We usually take a good 1000 to Palace. When the likes of Donny, Barnsley, Blackpool and other such smaller further away clubs I'd be surprised if they really labelled our support as the worst in the league.

For the size of our home crowds, we probably do have the worst away support going.

Part of that is that other clubs seem much more able to get fans on coaches that we do. I've been to many games at the Mad Stad where you seem away coaches lined up down the road, yet they only have 1500 fans.

If we have 1500 fans, we'd probably have two coaches, and only one would be full.

If you took our average away attendance vs our average home attendance we wouldn't have the worst away support going. It'd be pretty crap, but not the worst.

Bristol City is a perfect exmaple of rubbish away fans. Massive City/area.. I've heard that they've sold 140 tickets for Oakwell tomorrow..

I wonder what the lowest away attendance at the Mad Stad is. Saints must have ranked up in the top five highest on Sat shirley?

Sorely tempted to go tomorrow... might just chance it on the day. £11 train with my rail card, sorted.

Anyway thats rich from the Palace fans, they only took 900 to us for the match at the Madejski last season, and 3pm Saturday KO too.

Has been the case for as long as I can remember going to away games, most people drive

From a Reading point of view, a smaller away following generally leads to a better atmosphere (ref Southampton away Xmas '08).

So personally I'm not fussed how many tickets we haven't sold.

Surprised Donny averaged more than us away last season, but suppose they do have a lot of local away games that they can go to.

Would any of the stattos care to do a % comparison between average home and away support - we must have one of the lowest away followings compared to our home support.... although the number of southern chempionship teams with low away followings suggest that there are more northern derbies - or less to do in the north!

This proves that you haven't been watching Reading very much. I can remember an abundance of teams which sold every seat in the away end over the years, certainly not top five.

We took about 500 to Palace in 2006. Awesome atmosphere that night. Quality > Quantity.

Anyway, sod Selhurst Park tomorrow. I shall be at Wey Court, Godalming for the F A Cup 4QR tie v Maidenhead United. A proper match day experience at about a 1/3rd of the cost.

They've got fans all round the country - got a mate who lives in Dartford and always fills a coach every away game.
