Royal Rother Windsor beat Camberley 2-0 last night and move up to 2nd.

Away to top team and last season's Champions Guildford next up. Crunch.

..they'll need to play a bit better @ the Spectrum than they did last night - gave Cambo a lot of opportunities 2nd half - though with away side reduced to 10 men for studs up-ish challenge right on H/T, task was a bit easier for them.

Two quick goals immediately after H/T - I missed the first chatting in the bar  - made it a more comfortable game than it could have been - especially since the lad sent off was possibly their best player up until then.

Windsor look good themselves going forward - but Guildford are bigger and uglier up front than Camberley so could be a good game.

Believe an earlier KO was discussed at one point for Saturday's game (Windsor prog still showed KO as 12:30 - something to do with staggering KO so people could get to the Cup game at Godalming afterwards?) but I have been told that info elsewhere suggests its 'reverted' back to 15:00h?

Think the local Council had the last say - and I expect they said 'NO' !

Lots of returning (and free-loading  - not ME I hasten to add - I paid the first time) hoppers for last nights game - was free entry since the first game was Ab. due to lighting trouble. decent crowd of over 300 and as the M-o-M announcer said "...the lights ran for 90'. " :P

Nice to see TB doing his meetin' and greetin' - does a very sound effort on the prog side and love the bit about insults previously hurled at 'Scotty'.

If I feel like braving the rain tonight - then may nip out in a tick to watch 'Sumas' host Witney @ Larges Lane - should stay in really and nurse my cold though. :?

It's interesting that although we do seem to lack pace at the back we are very experienced and that seems to make up for it in large part.

A number of Windsor fans are very critical of the defence yet we have the best defensive record in the division at less than a goal a game conceded.

Ascot United 5 - 2 Abingdon Town

The Yellamen are just starting to put a run of a few league games together but the next 2 are league cup and county cup so expecting to come off the rails again.

Ark Royal Truro City EIGHT Farnboro' 2

7-1 @ HT too -

....elsewhere in the CONF South:
- Basingstoke D1-1 with Staines - away side scored on 89' - Magpies lost 0-1 @ Boreham Wod on Monday though Woking bt W-S-M 4-1 to stay top. Sutton Utd pushing hard behind them though bt Salisbury 5-0.

Trophy replays
Chipp'num 2-1 Poole
Diddy 4-0 Marlow - trip to Worthing in the next round due 5th Nov
Hastings 0-2 Bedfont Town

In the Hellenic last night :
RTFC sans Spence D3-3 with Thame - leaders Flackwell beaten 2-0 at Ardley - Holyport beaten 1-2 by Henley -Slimbridge and Shortwood both registered big home wins - Sumas slump 0-1 @ home to Witney - I popped along - W&E looked decidedly off-colour and this was only their 3rd home league match this season.

Was stood next to a Farnborough fan for much of the 2nd half - he was slightly cheered when I told him I'd seen Truro lose 7-2 only a week or so ago - but the comeback was not to be - 'boro did draw the 2nd Half 1-1 though!
Apparently they've had some serious managerial turmoil of late at Cherrywood Rd:

EDITgot wires crossed on the next bit - apparently Barnard is now Manager at Camberley - Darren Barnard - ex-Wokingham and of course subsequently a a string of League clubs incl. Chelsea - involved somewhere - with the previous fellah going off to Godalming?

EDIT - This bit actually relates to 'boro - Manager now ex H&Y - Haylock ? - is difficult to check sources as (like a lot of things at 'boro) their website is only part-built!

Also some idea that the former Hayes & Y chap got brought in - he won the league/got promoted there with a load of kids but the formula doesn't seem to be working yet at 'boro. :?

Possibly off to Court Farm tonight where Oxford City Nomads host last season's champs Wantage - but the 'Freds' are evidently NOT the force they were - well off the pace in mid-table.
Big game at Ashford Town (Middx) tonight - where 'lodgers' Staines Lammas welcome Guernsey in CCL Div One - could be a big crowd - there usually is wherever they go.

UPDATE Nomads coasted to a 3-1 win over a very lacklustre Wantage; young lad Kynan Isaac (?) came on 2nd half for Nomads and tore up the left hand side with some effect - though they were already 3-1 up - apparently he joined Oxford City after a scholarship @ RFC -

- and Guernsey won by the same score at Lammas.

Real peculiar season for Truro, seem to win several in a row then lose several in a row. They were stuffed 5-2 at home by Basingstoke in their previous home game, then they were smashed 7-2 at Gloucester City (same level) in the FA Cup but have since recovered to win 2-1 at Dartford and now stuff Farnborough 8-2

Didn't Darren have a month on loan at Reading (from Chelsea) back in 1994/95 season?

Looks like I have been outed  Did you try one of the pies? I don't believe there are many Step 5 clubs that sell hot pies let alone of the quality that we do. only £2.50 each and 50% goes to the Mayor of Windsor's Charity. And, we sold out of programmes for the first time ON THE NIGHT! Can't wait for the clash with Guildford City tomorrow. Could be interesting.
