Mr Angry News this evening that the Met have decided to formally investigate this incident now; that means JT WILL be arrested and interviewed under caution, and will then be released on police bail pending further investigation.

That will mean him being stripped - again - of the England captaincy (tho with Capello who knows?)

Even if he's found Not Guilty? Surely due process applies before Capello has to make any decision?

Just my take on how this will pan out.

The police investigation might be the best thing that could happen for Terry. I would imagine the burden of proof to be higher for a criminal charge than for an FA censure, and I’d venture straight away that there will be ‘insufficient evidence’ to prove that Terry ‘racially abused’ (doesn’t this imply malice and intent?) Anton Ferdinand. Once the police investigation is dropped, the FA will have enough space to say ‘it’s been investigated and there is no case to answer’, and Terry gets away with it.

He could be not guilty and still quite reasonably be considered by Capello as unsuitable to be England captain.

Precedent was set when Alan Smith, when playing for Newcastle, was kicked out of an England squad due to being under Police investigation in 2003.

CFC players/managers/fans - hard evidence that money can't buy you class and humility.

This is my fear, that Terry will get away with it because the FA now have an excuss to duck the issue.

In terms of the mallice and intent, I thought there was something about being racially abused being in the way it was received not dished out? That might just be in the way the Police have to investigate/record crimes as opposed to proving them though.

Yes, but the complainant isn't the "victim" in this case, so that complicates matters. Is it still racist abuse if the person it's directed at doesn't notice it?

Jackson Corner Torres looked back to his worst after threatning to look like a striker again. They are all over the place at the back, and the manager looks way out of his depth.

Reading fan in knee jerk reaction shocker.

LOL @ Alan Brazil claiming Terry isn't a racist because he played alongside Rio for England.

Seems to me if you ever find yourself having to justify how you're not racist then you're probably on to a bit of a loser.

Well whatever happens he's lost a couple of sponsors. Had the rather nice job of telling his agent that yesterday. One less Bentley he can buy a year...

They weren't individual deals but endorsements through the FA as part of his England Team commitments.

Probably not the best thread to post this, but what the hell ....

Police have begun an investigation after another Premier League footballer was sent a racist message on Twitter.

Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell was sent the tweet after he joked "Come on Estonia! You can do it!" ahead of the Euro 2012 play-off against Ireland.

The message was sent by TheReid1, whose account no longer exists.

Campbell, 24, and formerly of Manchester United, retweeted the abuse, adding "wow just seen this tweet! Disgraceful." He also linked a picture of the Show Racism the Red Card organisation's logo.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "We are aware of the matter and inquiries are being made into it."

The same force launched an investigation after Newcastle United's Sammy Ameobi was similarly abused on Twitter a fortnight ago. Two teenagers were arrested.
