..... :oops: :oops:

.. course they did - I even remembered checking msg bds during late PM because of forecasted downpours and how it might affect the Sat games nearby - and indeed they were concerned about the match on Friday eve @ Wibbandune but it stopped raining and all was OK.

Seems as if Friday night matches are becoming a popular experiment - I think the crowds are reflecting this too - over 100 at CWU.

Next one round here is 11th when once again Guildford City will be in action this time H v Baddy Lea: then there's the 18th when the Vase tie between Old Woodstock and Witney (@ North Leigh) is scheduled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
.. other 'deliberate mistake' was this Tuesday's B&B match at Didcot is to be re-arranged due to Chesham having to replay their Trophy tie at Tiverton.
Good, battling win for Windsor over a good Horley Town side. The last 2 games have seen us come up against two of the better footballing sides in the division. Probably the most entertaining game I have seen this season. Crowd of 191 at step 5 is not so bad either. I wonder what has happened to the "Legions of Fans" who refused to attend because of the appointment of Keith Scott and Jim Melvin? Always thought that was one of the most stupid and peurile of headlines from a local paper.
The fun continues tonight with a Premier Challenge Cup tie at Stag Meadow against Spelthorne Sports (CCL Div 1) 7.45pm kick off. Could be an interesting game but I know absolutely nothing about our visitors. Bring it on!
... they are new to STEP06 this season - saw them a year ago lose at home to Virginia Water possibly their only defeat that season in the SCIL(W) or SEIL - both Surrey feeder leagues to the CCL1 - only went cos:
a) its really nearby - just up the top of the M3
b) they were the only game locally that survived a horrible wet Boxing Day morning - turned out they have a really nice bar too :)
...started 11/12 season very slowly; lost three of their first four CCL1 league games - albeit against probable front runners - have now gone on a run of 7 or 8 straight wins including the scalp of the mighty Guernsey last month - so they are no slouches.
Could give you a good game - but would not expect an upset - imagine they'll be tidy enough - there is quite a gulf between the top of the CCL Prem and the upper reaches of Div One.
Spelthorne played some very nice stuff and deserved the win. Having said that Windsor played a significantly weakened team and only brought on the 1st choice strike force of Romeo and O'Toole with about 15 mins left. That immediately changed the game but too little too late.
Concentrate on the league! Cove away on Saturday followed by the rematch with Shrivenham in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy on Monday 14th. I reckon Flackwell Heath would be strong favourites for the Trophy based on what I saw earlier in the season.
Burnham defeated Aylesbury 2-0 in the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup last night. One of the two remaining second round matches is scheduled for tonight. Marlow v Hungerford Town and the other game between Didcot Town and Chesham United, which was originally set for tonight, has been put back untilnext Tuesday because Chesham are involved in an FA Trophy replay.
Once these two matches have been completed the Competition will be down to the quarter final stage, the draw for which is
Didcot Town or Chesham United v Slough Town
Chalfont St Peter v Wycombe Wanderers
Maidenhead United v Abingdon United
Marlow or Hungerford Town v Burnham
So, remind me, why don't Reading enter their reserve/development team in the B&B, seems a good opportunity to have some sort of competitive football for the youngsters and fringe squad players (or perhaps its common practice for the higher division clubs to avoid the local county cups).
Pardew pulled us out, as it was felt that some of the non leaguers wre over physical with our young side (looesley translated - we were getting beat and didn't like it). Absolutely pathetic that we don't enter, especially as the other opposition we drum up (Reading University :| ) wouldn't seem to be much cop now that we have withdrawn from the Combination League. As the biggest club in the two counties we should be entering, sending a side to these smaller towns to publicise the club. Who knows, we might even win and get entry into the European County Cup Winners Cup.
... hmm more likely to see the probable favourites first hand if you get past Shrivvy on Monday - next round you are due to host Newport Pagnell from the UCL - have won the Trophy for the last two years and were runners-up to RTFC the year before.
Will probably post the 1/4 Finals of that on here when the First (2nd :roll: ) Round games are done end of next week.
Not the best evening for a couple of Berkshire teams with Maidenhead getting turned over 4-1 at home to Nicky Forster's Dover and Thatcham getting a 6-1 hammering in their FA Trophy replay at Weymouth, who they came within seconds of beating in the original game on Saturday.
Hungerford Town though defeated Marlow 3-1 in the Berks and Bucks Cup to earn a home quarter final against Burnham.
Was never a 4-1 game. First half was a bit of a non event while Maiders had the better of the second but Dover took their chances.
The Berks & Bucks Senior Cup is an invitation competition if I recall correctly. FoC or one of the Windsor followers might know more.
Interesting this season that Franchise FC are not in it either.
I am sure that I can find out if the Senior Cup is by invitation. My understanding, based on absolutely feck all, is that the Senior Cup is for clubs in Step 4 of the non-league pyramid and above whereas the Trophy is for Step 5 and below - hence Windsor's involvement in the Senior Trophy this season.
... the key could be in the name B&B Senior INVITATION Cup - not sure I've noticed the use of 'Invitation' being in common usage so widely before.
... indeed the Evostik Southern League official site, was sufficiently confused - when posting some fixtures covering its member clubs' involvement - that the way they were listed, implied there were two different competitions being played for - the 'B&B Senior Cup' and the 'B&B Senior Invitation Cup' - I had to check that they had made an error - and they had - there is only one! :roll:
I think TB is mostly right that the Senior Trophy is primarily a STEP 5 competition - not sure there have been any STEP06 clubs entered of late - I think the majority of the Hellenic & S.Mids -based B&B Step06 clubs enter the next one down: the 'Intermediate Cup' - which also includes a large number of local County League/Reading Senior League and Reserve sides.
The MK Dons situation is something of a mystery to me.
They weren't in the competition last season either and I read a line in a newspaper which simply said 'the Berks and Bucks FA have decided not to invite the MK Dons to compete in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup this season' ( meaning the 2010-11 season). As they are not in it again this season I assume once more they were not invited. I have no idea as to the reason for this as they competed for a few seasons prior to the 2010-11 season.
On the more general subject I agree with those who think Reading should enter assuming they are still invited.
