Northern Git
melonhead surely thats the whole reason hes not spunking his cash on us any more

This exactly the point! I dont think, with all his other pressing financial demands, he is in any position to support the club financially in any meaningful way.

If he would 'splash the cash' if he did have the cash is a different question

As for selling the club, his debt for equity swap has probably put a unrealistic value on the club given its current performance. This is just my guess BTW as I dont know what figure he is asking for the club or how he has structured current or past 'loans' he made prior to 2006

thats the only question mark i can see over his current stewardship. the asking price/conditions.
i know it was 80 million at some point pre or just post relegation.
if he hasnt knocked at least 30 million off that by now id say he was the only reason we arent being sold.

but id add the caveat, that im not sure i wantt him to sell anyway. foreign billionaires dont look to be the universal cure all that every one thinks they are, imo

Royal Lady If I were JM I'd be pretty happy too - club not struggling as such, still getting pretty high attendances - have won a few games - fans not exactly mutinous - that's all he wants. I do note that he never comes out and milks it anymore before games -(unless I've missed him) - doubt he walks past our fans at away games like he used to either - he's not daft - he knows he should have spent some more money on players when we sold big - but he can't afford to. Interesting to note that the hotel is now in the red - that will be part of the reason - I still maintain he'll have transferred some of the money from the club to the hotel to cover debts. But that's up to him. He was happy to take the plaudits, he knows he's also got to take the criticism. It's still early days in the football calendar - he'll be praying for a big team at home in the FA Cup I expect - but come March/April if we're not doing very well - he won't be relishing coming to games. A lot of the RTGs are still looking at last season and thinking we can turn it around and end up in the play-offs I expect. Poor loves.

 its not looking good is it, but then it didnt last season, or teh one before etc.

JM has been out an a couple of occasions this season, though defo much less, though who can blame him woth the sickeningly ungrateful booing and jeering mongs singing "wheres all the money gone at him" from the east stand

Harpers So Solid Crew Would you be happy if you were JM?
Only JM can answer that one.

I'd have probably packed it all in after making my first £1m.... which is probably the main reason why I'm not likely to make £1m in the first place!

But you don't just make a first million,. you poodle along working at a project, in JMs case Autotrader and slowly the value rises, but there is not always a get out clause, so you carry on working, suddenly the value goes up, but no one wants to buy it, yet you still have to carry on untill the day that someone does want to buy it.

A lot is to do with age, retire at 50 sounds great, by=ut that money will burn a hole in your pocket so you have to do something. JM was fortunate that no one came along for Autotrader a lot earlier, had someone seen the potential he may well have sold out at a much earlier time at a much lower value.

How funny that one of his rare appearances was when the tv cameras turned up! Like a moth to a light, he just can't resist it can he. And I find the subservient bum licking from his fan club equally sickening.

Good points Royalblue, don't be put off by being insulted by RTG's - thats what they do when they don't have anything sensible to say. its also their way of saying " gah you're all just stupid because you don't accept and share our point of view".

they weren't offering an opinion, you can't be robbed when you don't have something in the first place. So its not an opinion I was insulting them for, it was a mis-statememt of facts. I'm not an STG either I am Realist.

It's not JM's fault we were relegated from the Premiership, as I recall it takes a manager to want to spend money on the right players and on that front sadly, Sir Steve cocked it up.

Since Sir Steve left though we have been continually "building for the future" and no doubt our next few signings will all be "unknowns" for the future that you can't/won't/don't actually play in the 1st team as they're "for the future" and you don't really want to bugger up their confidence.

It's great here isn't it!

i think so

perhaps if you think we have some automatic right to be in the premiere league, demand ready made players, teams to be built in weeks ,and are really upset with what looks like it could be our first midtable championship season in years, you may be a little peeved.

Melonhead, bendy whatever you call yourself this week....you have stooped to an all time ar$e licking low!!!!

I'm curious, I mean I can't get my head round why you are incapable of any opinion which in the slightest way dare criticise your beloved SJM? You must be on a pi$$ take or you are employed by Reading Football Club. Sadly, I think neither....

You criticise the very heart of the passionate support within the Madstad, who for all their faults without them there would be NO atmosphere at all! Did you see the Cardiff fans on Sat?! That is called passion, commiting to the moment! Do you get that? Do you understand that this is a 'football' forum - for 'football' fans? Do you get what being a fan is supposed to be about? Are you 12? How's your mum?

So many questions.....sadly only one expected repeated drivel of a response......

Goodbye

worst post ever, im assuming that since you criticise me for sounding twelvbe you are older than that- you should be ashamed of yourself if so.

1stly whos arse am i licking again?
in the last two days, ive twice said i dont like the JM, and think hes a weirdy beardy wiggy odd bod.thats a strange definition of arse licking you have.

also are you seriously saying that cardiff are the fans we should aspire to be? i guess they sing tbf
the only criticism of our heartland fans is their criticism of the way the club is run, and ungratefulness to a chairman who gave us all our footballing dreams, but who can no longer afford to throw away money.

also your definition of fan is right off too, if it means you should criticise the club at every opportunity- use a dictionary 1st next time.
your post is utter nonsense and gibberish.
& my mum is fine thanks

JM has thrown millions at a print company with very little hope of getting it back according to experts in that field, see Print Week or whatever it is for views of peopel in the know about print, I doubt many on here have a clue.

Had RFC put a bit of spin on promotion we might have been more attractive to players to come here, all credit to SC for sticking with the squad and giving them the chance for the first season, lets face it we did ok that first season.

I recall the Chairman saying how ST had to rise so we could sign players and compete in the Prem, I also recall many complaining we did not sign players for the Prem that inspired the extra cash St holders where layingout.

We really did not splash out on players in the summer after 2007 ended, we lost Sidwell, who still plays in the Prem, yet we never replaced him, our record signing is £2.6m, for a player that was TBH honest a bit crap.

The club applied for planning and made a few noises about extending the Stadium, sadly as soon as things looked a bit poor the dream died a death, confidence fell and they were relegated.

Given the choice of the chance to get promotion would you play for RFC or another club, the Captain decided that Leicester were a better bet, despite us making th aPlay offs last season, telling that I think.

businesses and business plans suffer in a recession, hence why he no longer ghas that money to throw at RFC, and after daft booing from the fans, i wouldnt either

that makes it sound like we havent done ok since then, which is silly

I recall the Chairman saying how ST had to rise so we could sign players and compete in the Prem, I also recall many complaining we did not sign players for the Prem that inspired the extra cash St holders where layingout.

said to be spent on the squad. which includes wages. im reather proud of our 8th place, with a squad that cost about 6.5 million
after that we did/tried to bring in better more pricey players- lescott, brown, mensah, fae, halford but none worked out

We really did not splash out on players in the summer after 2007 ended, we lost Sidwell, who still plays in the Prem, yet we never replaced him, our record signing is £2.6m, for a player that was TBH honest a bit crap.

agreed

clearly a terrible idea while in the championship

More accurately, Wokingham District Council forced a delay to this by opposing the planning permission which meant that traffic planning had to be redone - if there hadn't been this delay in the granting of planning permission it's virtually certain that teh stadium expansion would have gone ahead.
