Anyone that's been to the old Shay 'Stadium', Twerton Park, Kenilworth Road, Spotland and the like will tell you what a depressing ground is.

glad to see no one has cited white hart lane as "depressing".of course i am biased,but i think it is one of the great english grounds,particularly under floodlights....

WHL best ground in the prem fur't atmopshere.
proper old school. 80% of ground standing at big matches.
intimidating walking down seven sisters strasse too.

Intimidating? Jesus, it was hardly any different to walking through Cemetery Junction! Can't say WHL is depressing, but it's I didn't find it exactly inspiring either. Just another jumped up London club with sizeable support who happened to win a few trophies on their way through history in the same mould as West Ham and Chelsea.

For depressing, see Kenilworth Road, Priestfield, Elland Road, Pride Park, Riverside, Stamford Bridge, Loftus Road, Millmoor, Vale Park, the Britannia and Home Park.

WHL is a superb ground. Close to the pitch and a good atmosphere and excellent stands considering where it is. Prob in my top 5 grounds in the country.

Loftus Road is another good one for me. Best away ground from the last few years. Leg room may be terrible but thats all. Close to the action and there was a great atmosphere last season. Give me Loftus Rd of any indentikit stadium built in the last 15 years,

Kennilworth Rd should be burnt down with immediate effect. Along with the rest of Luton come to think of it.

Where has all the Kenilworth h8 come from? watching football at Kenilworth Road > watching football at the Madj. Walkable from station, nearish pubs, plenty to look at. It is pornography for the football ground geek. Overlooking someone's garden as you walk up the stairs to the away end. Pwoper football experience that. Like eating a Subbuteo sandwich.

I like Luton. Luton makes me proud and delighted to come from Reading. I like the fact that Luton as a town is basically just one massive Oxford Road.

And the fact my first and only ever experience of the ground was me and my old man completely oblivious to the fact the game had been called off due to snow carried on towards Luton. Deb8ed whether to carry on but we were that close we did, got there and the place was a ghost town with a sheet of A4 on a door saying game cancelled with the ink running. Went to the rescheduled game and it was a shit 1-1 draw

One of the best things I have ever seen in a football ground* occured at Luton. Harry the Hatter (LTFC mascot) walking around by the away end flicking us the v's.....trips over Scott Howie warming up on the floor, stacks it and his giant, over-sized head rolls off.

That was the game I just mentioned. Sure it was 1-1 and I was very thankful that our fans decided to stand up because I remember the legroom being non existent

Can I add The Boleyn Ground to the depressing list. I just hate the place. You can get back from Barnsley quicker than you can from that place. And the away end looks like a cock up by the Architect. You are basically facing off the side of the pitch and paying extra for the previlage.

Did anyone go to Victoria Park Hartlepool in the 80s/early 90s? It felt like the end of the world.

Now if you want to talk cold - the 3-0 defeat at Odsall takes some beating. The icy wind whipped round that place and no masculine brass monkeys for miles around.

Yeah, it was missing a stand, a solitary ball-boy patrolled the utterly derelict building site, and at one point whilst fetching the match ball, carelessly fell into a hole.

Gr8 views of the North Sea as well.

Eastville in the 80's was horrible, so was (is) Priestfield

But Bay View (East Fife's old ground) is probably the most depressing place I've been.
