Not only will Smalling and Jones get a chance to play in their natural and, IMO, strongest positions but Ferdinand will also have to play more games and have a better chance of playing his way back into form.

Smalling and Jones are not good enough.

Think they will be England's CB partnership for years to come. And Jones' performances this year do not look like they have come from a 19 year old. IMO he is already one of the best defenders in the country. Smalling is also quality.

I actually think it's a real shame that the Europa League is the poor cousin it now is.

The Champions League has a lot to answer for and the demise of both the Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Cup are sad knock on effects in my book. I remember the day when competing in the UEFA Cup was quite well thought of.
