Snowball We won't lose our next two games.

But we could have points deducted - for what, I don't know, but it's possible

I'd want some pretty incredible odds, to be fair.

Speaking of famous last words --whither recent'ish "Next 6 Games"-type threads on here?

I'm assuming that they got cull'd, but I reckon it'd be fun* to have a looksee and contrast the usual doomsday scenarios with the pleasantly surprising reality of recent results

Going back two seasons to 2009/10 btw, it took our guys 30 matches to get 33 points (and beyond; were in fact on 32 after winning at home to Plymouth and 35 after beating Palace away in the next one)'

*for want of something else to call it

Only our bad run of defeats early in the season currently stops us being
contenders for the top-two spots.

Table since the 5 consecutive defeats (beginning with Doncaster game)

1 16 9 3 4 8 22-13 +09 30 1.88 ppg West Ham United <<<<
2 16 9 3 4 6 22-16 +06 30 1.88 ppg Hull City
3 15 8 4 3 4 29-15 +14 28 1.87 ppg Southampton <<<<
4 16 8 5 3 7 22-14 +08 29 1.81 ppg Reading

5 16 8 4 4 5 25-19 +06 28 1.75 ppg Leeds United<<<<
6 16 7 6 3 6 27-19 +08 27 1.69 ppg Cardiff City <<<<
7 16 7 6 3 8 16-14 +02 27 1.69 ppg Middlesbrough <<<<
8 14 6 4 4 4 18-15 +03 22 1.57 ppg Birmingham City <<<<

9 16 7 3 6 3 26-26 +00 24 1.50 ppg Barnsley

Note how close we are to the top of the form table despite having played 6/8 of the other top clubs in this run

Do you HAVE to be a permanent pain in the ass?

There is a VERY obvious reason. THIS IS THE RUN.

It was after we sorted things out, after the horrible run of five defeats.

Is that too difficult for you to understand?

It happens to be 16 games.

Next it will be 17 games.

And then it will be 18 games.

I realise counting is difficult for you, but TRY.

Do you ring up BBC Radio Berks and complain when they say

"Reading have won 5 of their last 7 games"?

Mr Dellor, REALLY, you absolutely MUST do it in 6, 9, 12, 18

Last season a pretty average championship forward suddenly metamorphosed in to a world beater.

I would suggest it is unlikely that that will happen again.

Instinctively, I'd agree with that, but wasn't there a time when Prem clubs were looking seriously at Churchy?

Different player to Long, but for years Church was (allegedly) the one with the most promise
and Long "had the first touch of a rapist" etc etc etc

This time last season we had the 3rd best goal difference in the league, so you argued we were better than our position suggested.

how dows it stack up this season?

I said earlier in the season that, if any forward was going to emulate Long and take a huge leap forward, it would be Church as the others are 'more exposed' in horse racing parlance, however, the most likely scenario is none of them will.

7th... and we'll have a MUCH better idea by the end of January

if you consider how bad we were with those 5 consecutive defeats, and see how we have steadily risen...

http://www.statto.com/football/teams/reading/2011-2012

1 21 Southampton 2nd (game in hand)
2 17 West Ham (TOP)
3 11 Cardiff (5th)
4 09 Middlesbrough (3rd)
5 06 Blackpool (8th)
5 06 Leeds (6th)
7 05 Reading (7th)

That's a strong relationship now, but IMO we are slightly under-rated, given our early-season form.

PS
Beware Birmingham 8th on GD (+4) currently mid-table but 3 games in hand

We are probably roughly where we should be right now, on points and GD,
and our lack of chances=made means we have to be deadly when we get those chances

I could imagine a few 0-0s or 1-0 defeats that could drop us down the table

UNLESS

one or two strikers go on a purple-patch

OR

the midfield starts getting more creative (unlikely) or one or more of Elwood/Karacan McAnuff and Kebe starts scoring.

We need 7-8 goals from Jimmy before season's end, and 3-4 from the other three midfielders

What a bizarre response, I haven't bothered replying to you for months, and your first reply is an insult. Just questioning how more than a third of a season was now a 'form table'. I won't bother again.

Look up "passive-aggressive" some time.
