Next six games?

by Ian Royal » 17 Dec 2011 17:41

This seasonal run of games could really put us in the mix or drop us back into mid-table obscurity. How do you see the results panning out. Especially with a bit of an injury crisis potentially mounting and Pearce & Gorkss both one yellow from a suspension!

Hull & Cardiff are also right up there. Brighton hanging around the edge of the POs, Ipswich putting a run together and Bristol and Watford looking to gain a bit of security from relegation.

Brighton (H) - W 2-1
Ipswich (H) - D 1-1
Cardiff (A) - W 3-2
Watford (A) - D 2-2
Hull (H) - L 0-2
Bristol (H) - W 3-1

11 Points would be a fairly optimistic, but very tidy return.

Brighton (H) - W
Ipswich (H) - W
Cardiff (A) - D
Watford (A) - D (Willing to bet on this being a 0-0, always a poor game)
Hull (H) - D
Bristol (H) - W

12 points, would be happy with that.

Brighton (H) - 2-0
Ipswich (H) - 1-0
Cardiff (A) - 1-2
Watford (A) - 1-1
Hull (H) - 2-0
Bristol (H) - 1-1

W3 D2 L1 8-4 11 points would do me.

Actually think we might get a good result at Cardiff but lose unexpectedly to one of the others.

On a roll. Good that we got cranked up before Christmas. Time to breathe and not be spooked by losing one or two.

Overall I think this will be the total points as well but no goals at Watford (don't think I will go)
And maybe a win v Bristol and draw v Ipswich

There's a betting stat which seems to come true too often (tho' I don't know exactly how "real" it is)

Namely a club that wins the away game first, often fails to win the home return

IF that's true, then we might fail to beat Ipswich/Bristol but get something at Cardiff

Well, dur... Doing the double over teams doesn't happen a great deal over the course of a season.

Get your head out of your ass a minute, Ian.

We are not talking about first winning at home and then winning away.

We are talking about first winning away and then failing to win the home match.

Wins at home are FAR more common. Sides who win away are usually the better sides (overall, in the league)
and it is reasonable, logical, and "based on form" that, having already won the away leg and "shown superiority"
that they would have a very good chance of winning the second (home) game.

"But they don't." At least not as often as they should. (IF the stat I HEARD OF, is, in fact, accurate.)

Oh wouldn't that be nice!

I think overall we look more promising than this time last season.*

We have a reasonable chance of winning our next two, and that would set us up well for 2012

*But we have to find a break-out player like Shane 2011

I always think at the start of the season that an average of 2 points per game will be automatic promotion.

From here on in, 2 points a game would see us comfortably in the play offs and maybe not far away from automatic promotion, so I'll settle for 12 points from the next 18 available.
