Svlad Cjelli I think it'd be counter-productive, too - we'd never be able to keep him, so we'd base the team around him like we did before, then when he left we'd be screwed again until we found a replacement (not gonna happen!) or found our own style again.

But have we not got used to this now and accepted this is why we love Reading? The inevitable disappointing start to the season, then around Christmas starting to look like we're really rather good.

Having the Sig again, even for a short time, would mean I would need tissues

Maybe Mr Mad and BM had an agreement that if come Christmas time/Jan window we were around the play off places and Gylfi was available then a loan deal to the end of the season would be something they would look into?

Roll the dice a little. Gylfi comes back and provides that bit of quality/spark in midfield that we need and we cement another play off place (which would probably just about cover the cost of the loan) or even better we go up and get him back permently with some of the golden Prem money that would come with the promotion.

Heart says I would LOVE this to happen...however my head says not.

How is signing a good player...much better than what we have ...counter productive? Our style since he's left has been rapidly declining month by month. It was so bad a few weeks ago people were beyond disgusted. We've picked up a few wins but make no mistake this team does not have an pleasant or consistent style at all...far from it. Do you think if man utd could sign xavi/inesta for a seasons long loan it would be counter productive?

No problems if it's a loan to the end of the season - including play-offs, because then the gamble has time to pay off, and we have time to rebuild after he departs. But a 1 or 2 month loan wouldn't be worth the disruption.

I take it you haven't gone to many games this season? The last couple of games has been much better...however there have been plenty of complaints about our style of football this season...failing to admit so proves you have been burying your head in the sand.

If he did come back on loan and things went well, i.e. Play-offs -> Promotion. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to sign him back. If he had a preference over us or one of the other lower/middle prem teams then I'm sure he would pick us.

Don't forget Bundesliga doesn't play until mid Jan as its their winter break, so GS would have plenty of spare time on his hands.

There's a couple of lines on this in EP, McDermott has 'rubbished reports' but no exact quote.

Don't understand this.

We get a reliable source telling us that Reading are in discussions over a loan move and then Sigurdsson and his father turn up at Hogwood for a few regular 'chats'.

What exactly was the "reliable source"?

And even if there was a shred of truth in it initially, bringing it out into the open might have alerted other clubs so it might now be a non-starter.

He said this about Adam Le Fondre and Joseph Mills.

With Le Fondre he rubbished it the day before he signed

LoyalRoyalFan A reliable source in IcelandicStokie

It's more that the Icelandic press don't seem to make shit up about their players like the british media do, so often icelandic stokies reports turn out to be accurate

A loan deal would be fantastic and a 4-4-1-1 formation would not change the balance of the core team but just add that creative spark often missing this season.
