When you see those attendances you realise that chelsea now are competing with clubs 3/4 times their size and are actually doing pretty well to hang in there. I think aberdeen were a bigger club at one point.

Royal With Cheese Chelsea's support is, and always has been, greater in numbers that Reading's. Both home and away, pre or post Abramovitch.

To suggest anything less is laughable.

I must have missed when someone did.

readingfc.co.uk The attendance of 22,141 was the third highest Boxing Day home gate in Reading FC's 140-year history.
The highest ever home attendance on this day came back in 1928 when we hosted Tottenham at Elm Park, watched by a crowd of 23,730.
In 2008 22,770 saw Adam Federici score to secure a late draw with Cardiff at Madejski Stadium, and in 1934 a crowd of 21,551 saw us play Millwall at Elm Park.
It was therefore only the fourth time in our history that 20,000+ have seen us at home on Boxing Day.
The attendance means that our average gate so far this season is 18,539 - more than 1,300 up after the same number of games last season.
Crowd figures for first 12 home League games:
2009/10 - total 206,535; average 17,211
2010/11 - total 206,616; average 17,218
2011/12 - total 222,468; average 18,539

The Real Sandhurst Royal With Southampton, West Ham and Brighton back in the championship is is hardly a surprise that the average attendance have gone up.

These things are usually a bit swings and roundabouts.
