Snowball Is it because Gorks is there or simply he's maturing into the great player he was predicted to become?

not just gorkss, he looked as good in his partnership with mills last season too and was unlucky to be dropped.
j

Didn't he get injured last season during a good run of form which allowed Zurab who then didn't deserve to be dropped?

These two are an excellent partnership though, it'll be interesting to see what happens if one of them gets injured for any length of time.

If we get promoted at the end of this season it will be in no small part to Pearce and Gorkss play in the central defense. Right now we are 2nd in the league for fewest goals conceded, with 22, behind just 'Boro who have let in 20.

Between Feds, Pearce, Gorkss, with Ledge and Karacan just in front of them we are rock solid at the back. Which is a far cry from the first 6 we played. Now if we could just find/get that attacking midfielder to compliment our current strength in the back we might get win an automatic promotion...going away.

Pearce is getting better and better, mainly I think because he has a stable partner. When he first came into the team it was due to injuries and suspensions so never really had a long run with one person.

When Rodgers became manager he was paired with o dea mills and another he was never settled. Last season he had a run with mills and his performances picked up. He was unlucky to get injured, zurab came back in and results picked up.

This year with gorkss he is settled and is learning every game

I'm a bit bored

I remember when we got promoted Preston got into the play-offs pretty much entirely because of their defence. They let in about 9 goals after christmas which pushed them right up the table, I don't think it would be that crazy to see us do something similar.

He was also lumbered with being made captain when he wasn't ready for it. Hope SJM isn't eyeing him to sell to fill the eternal £5 black hole at the end of the season.

Possibly a bit of both but he does seemed to have come into his own this season, whether that is coincidence or not we shall never know. I just think that the Championship winning CB can't have had anything but a positive influence on a young CB.

Getting a run of 20+ games has probably helped, particularly when most have been with the same partner. I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but he's been a bit of a bits and pieces centreback for us before with runs of maybe a dozen games or so and several different partners.
