swansea jackIcelandicStokie I feel a bit guilty here as Swansea came into the discussios of Gylfi when the heard of Readings discussions with Hoffenheim. They stole him!!!
Pleased with this if true.

Cypry Oh well, it was always a long shot.....surprised he's gone to Swansea, but it's a safe bet for him in some ways with it being a loan deal - if they survive he'll probably sign long term for them, if they go down he'll have some PL exposure, back to Hoff in the Summer with the chance of another PL club picking him up....
I actually wonder how much McD would have been able to guarantee him games at the moment as well....we are doing pretty well on a 4-4-2 based setup with one of the keys being a strong defensive based centre mid in Karacan and Leigertwood - any incorporation of Siggy would have meant some fairly big changes to the setup at a crucial time, when Brian has only just got the existing system working anywhere near well.....he always bangs on about "the group", makes me wonder if a "return of the Sig" could've actually been considered as being possibly counter-productive....?
Much as I'd have loved to see him back, and the fact that he seems to have chosen Swansea over us is a bit of a kick in the teeth, I think we have to be pragmatic about this....

Gylfi was one of the bright lights under Rodgers. He stepped it up a level under McD, but that could also have been down to being in a better team. Swansea play neat football and go through their midfield a lot. That will suit Gylfi. If he could get into their 4-3-3/4-5-1 set up behind Sinclair and Dyer, he will do very well.sandmanswansea jackIcelandicStokie I feel a bit guilty here as Swansea came into the discussios of Gylfi when the heard of Readings discussions with Hoffenheim. I know why you're pleased but I'm not sure it will be that good for you.
It was only when McDermott came in and built the team around him that Gylfi prospered. He'd shown flashes of what was to come before that but the manager at the time, you might know him from somewhere, displayed no inclination as to how to use him properly within the team. I hope for Swansea's sake and the sake of Gylfi's career that Rodgers has learnt his lesson and is more than just a profiteer from Roberto Martinez's work as many suspect.

Idealurz13 I hope he does well and earns a move to a massive team
oxf*rd that, if he wanted to us to wish him well he'd have joined us, instead he joined big watch man, we are in our right to be disgusted.
oxf*rd him, oxf*rd big watch man, they can both get stuffed.

Ian RoyalRoyal Lady  Well that's started the New Year off well then hasn't it.
I bet he would have come back to Reading over Swansea if we'd a) shown an actual interest and b) could afford him.
Why would he come to Championship Reading, when he could go to Premier League Swansea, with the manager who gave him his first team league breakthrough?
That would be a truely stupid decision.

andrew1957 Really pleased that Siggy is going to get a chance to show what he can do in the PL.
Let's face it he was never going to come back here unless we get promoted - and even then I can hardly see the Chairman splashing out either a huge transfer fee or a huge loan fee. His days here are almost certainly done but I for one will enjoy watching him in the PL.
