Are you an actual retard? HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY GYLFI WHEN HE MANAGED HIM HERE. I hope that Brendan has learnt from his mistakes here and plays Gylfi in the right role because he is a supreme talent that can do well for your club. That is all I'm saying it's not inflammatory, I've wished you luck twice and you're still taking offence.

Brian McDermott told a room full of STAR members that the Swansea fans were abusive towards our players as they were leaving Wembley Stadium. Why would he make it up? What would he have to gain from it? He divulged the information to a closed public forum months after the event. Unlike managers of other clubs Brian doesn't air the clubs dirty laundry to the wider world.

Perhaps it's because people aren't listening to what I'm saying and attacking me for no reason.

I'm just going to put you on ignore now pal because you're either trying to purposefully wind me up or you really are as stupid as I think you are. If my team had won that final I wouldn't have been throwing things and shouting abuse at the losing team's players I'd be down the pub celebrating.

P.S. Again, good luck for the rest of the season, I hope Gylfi does well and impresses the larger clubs because ultimately we get a lot of money out of him making a move to a big PL club. 8)

Unfortunately TBM he made it into a slanging match. I just kept to my original point and have been backed up by Brian's comments today and will be backed up over the fans incident by the transcript from the Forum in question.

That's the last I have to say on the matter.

Royal Lady  Well that's started the New Year off well then hasn't it.

I bet he would have come back to Reading over Swansea if we'd a) shown an actual interest and b) could afford him.

Why would he come to Championship Reading, when he could go to Premier League Swansea, with the manager who gave him his first team league breakthrough?

That would be a truely stupid decision.

Because he didn't want to leave in the first place, he knows RFC - the town and the set up at the club really well and I don't believe he's just in it for the money either. Why would it have been stupid to come back to us (if we'd bothered to show an interest in the first place) when we're sitting in 5th place and he could have helped us to either an auto promotion place or helped us win a play off? I'm pretty sure he would have loved to have been part of our club again. But we didn't want him back, so he's gone to someone who does. The fact that it's Brendan is by the by, I believe. He just wanted to play regular football.

He was happy to stay, there's a difference between that and not wanting to leave at all. If he didn't want to go to Hoffenheim he wouldn't have done, we couldn't force him out, contracts work both ways. The key here is PREMIER LEAGUE team. He is too good for us, and he'd be oxf*rd retarded to come back here purely for sentimental reasons when he has far better opportunities with regard to exposure and the level of play with which to further his career, in England, or Germany, or elsewhere abroad.

It's an utter no brainer.

PS the bold is utter supposition, you have no actual evidence for it.

Can I just say that regardless of whether he would have signed for us or not I wouldn't actually want him here at this moment in time. We have a settled 4-4-2 formation and if he came in that would have to change as we all know that a team needs to be built around him if you want to get the best out of his undoubted abilities. Swansea already play a system in which he can slot in to, we don't.

WR, I know where you're coming from but I think it would be quite easy to slot Sigurdsson into the current side in place of one of the centre forwards (it's not like any of them are actually doing that great a job) and having him at the business end.

We'd have to play a little less of the percentage ball down the channels of course but I think that's be a positive and would improve things.

Sandman, I don't think it's quite fair to say Rodgers didn't know how to play Sigurdsson whilst he was here. He got some very good performances out of him at an early stage of his Championship career. Could he have got more out of him playing him in a different role? Perhaps. Would that have been better for the team at the time with the other players we had available whilst taking into account Sigurdssons rawness at this level? Not so sure. I think there were much bigger issues at play that influenced performances and results than Sigurdsson playing most of his time out wide.

If he had come it would have been perfect: we are set up so well for a 4-5-1 at the moment, with Gylfi taking the place of one of the strikers. He didn't so it won't. He can enjoy a relegation battle.

I don't agree. It would have upset the balance of the team and we would have become reliant on him doing things. The current set up suits us and we need two strikers on the pitch (whether they are scoring regularly is irrelevant to that). Playing one player deeper (Sig) would upset that balance.

McD admitted that the team with Sig in it was built around him to accomodate him in the side and I wouldn't want to go back to that.

Big Foot Heard Gylfi wanted to come back but wages / insurance fees meant that this was never going to be a viable option

Don't know about the cost but my sources tell me we were his number one personal choice, we'll just have to get promoted without him

Madejski/board in not wanting to spend anything significant on a player so we miss out shocker. Unless its some random cheapo from the lower leagues they won't be coming here.
