Royal Lady I didn't say we did. I said, we shouldn't never have let him go.

in the context of your post, it oooks like you are saying that

No. It really doesn't. :|

just leave me alone you massive bully

and yes, we should have kept him here for four years till it looked like he may just be becoming a decent championship player

The season after we sold him he top scored in League 1 ahead of Beckford, Fryatt, Hooper and Mackail Smith in an average Swindon side. You don't think that suggested he could be a decent Championship player?

At the time you can't blame the club, but in hindsight this has proved to be one of the worst decisions in RFC history. Would be far and away the best player at the club if he was still on the books.

He wouldn't have developed like he has if he had stayed on our books because he wouldn't have got the first team football he needed.

The player wanted to go when the offer came in as it meant getting to play week in and week out, what were RFC meant to do in that situation, nail him to the floor and create bad feeling about the place and then lose him in the next window for nothing when he chose not to renew his contract?

That's certainly true to an extent WR, at least either that or Shane Long would never have progressed into the player we saw for 6 months last year and then made a massive profit on. It almost certainly wouldn't have been both players coming good at the same club at the same time.

I still maintain that you can (and I obviously do) blame the club for putting Cox in the position that he felt he needed to move on in order to progress. I thought then, and still do, that he should've been given a bit more of a chance in the first team. As he wasn't the decision to let him go was the correct one for all parties though.

hes certainly not proven himself to be a good premiere league striker, which was where we were when we sold him

far and away?

he cant get past long at the minute,
so that would suggest hed be about slightly better at best, but more likely about the same as the rest of em right now

The problem with Cox (if i remember correctly, correct me if i'm wrong) was we where in the premiership at the time when he wanted to play games and we had Lita, Doyle, Kitson and Long so he was low in the pecking order and we loaned him out to different teams to get experience. Then when he went to Swindon they put in an offer and we let him go because we had better options than him at the time. If we where in the Championship and didn't have better options like now he'd have got his chance. For me the same thing would've happen with Pearce, Karacan and Church had we been in the premiership now they'd never had got the chance to play for us.

agreed- the lad was unfortunate with the timing- and we were nice enough to let him go on the cheap rather than hold him back

Simon Cox to Reading

by refwinter » 31 Jan 2012 20:28

I've heard rumours Simon Cox will return to Reading after being fed up with sitting on the bench at
West Brom. It may be a loan move but he will sign before 12 , West Brom have not confirmed anything yet.

He's been spotted in Reading too

Basically today, everytime a striker has become unavailable for us to buy him we've been linked to another one...

Roberts at his peak no? Roberts at 34? Yes. Its you who is talking nonsense so I am dismissing that attempt of an insult. Cox is a good player.
