RUMOUR - McCarthy to Ipswich

by tomrfcurz » 07 Jan 2012 19:31

Jonny Fordham reporting on Twitter that McCarthy could be off on loan to Ipswich Town. Another bit of good experience hopefully for the lad and a bit lower down the league so hopefully won't be too much of a threat for a while at least!

Jonny Fordham's tweet RE McCarthy to Ipswich
"Whispers that McCarthy is off to #itfc on loan #readingfc"

Maybe not such a bad idea. Means a club can't sign him this transfer window and wouldn't surprise me if Feds leaves before next season, so he'll come back in as number 1 with plenty more experience.

Another decent move to keep him happy and progressing. I still worry that these loans are just increasing the likelihood that he'll be off in the summer but I don't think we'll ever keep him for long whatever happens really (hope I'm wrong of course).

With Andersen also signing his new contract I wonder where that leaves Federici in the summer.

hopefully looking for pastures new. i'm hoping these loans are preparation for becoming number one here next season with andersen number two and us cashing in on federici.

I think this scenario will come true. Just can't see McCarthy going, whenever McD has been asked about it (McCarthy leaving) he has been adamant that he is not. Think the "Reading way" will be cashing in with Feds so far having a good season. Putting himself well in the shop window!

Yes, Fed is also out of contract next summer and i'm not sure i see him signing a new one. We'll need to sell someone again in the summer and he's the most likely imo.

Good good. Can't say I've been a fan of his ever since his interview on SSN and his come and get me plea to the Premiership. He'll do well to better Reading.

Funnily enough, that interview - unlike others - has never bothered me. What with the unanticipated FA Cup exit, I would be very surprised if Feds and Kebe stayed after this season. Black holes and cloth cuting spring to mind.

They never budget for any money from the FA Cup.

Yes (http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=110364&p=3172009#p3172009)
I'd expect so, but can't say for certain until this time next year! (seeing as wages were over 100% of turnover last season I'd be surprised if we didn't though.
Depends how big the wage bill is this season
