How Gibbs can call Watford a selling club is quite frankly laughable when his own employers do exactly the same.
.. and you accuse others of being boring?
Face it, we sell some, we buy some. We are successful in league terms. So we don't seem to have a serious problem at the moment - unless you are a shortsighted half wit of course?
Boring? I don't sit in the West Stand.......
We sell high and buy low, we are successful but with high risk attached as we rebuild every year, we don't seem to have a serious problem AT THE MOMENT (earlier in the season we certainly did and could easily go back there), our board are shortsighted half wits.....
if this mob are short sighted half wits, what were the lot that kept us in Div 3/Div 4?
i'd rather have these short sight half wits than what Blackburn have at the moment, or plymouth had, or portsmouth, or leicester have had, or sheffield wednesday, or leeds, or palace.....
Extreme's.....there is middle ground, it doesn't have to be either or. There are many other clubs which are run well and don't advertise their best talent for sale. Some clubs work to keep their best players not nurture them for profit. Look at how hard Spurs fought to keep Modric and see how it is benefiting them now and all this with the player himself actually demanding to leave.
I firmly believe that but for the sale of Sig we would have been promoted. With further investment in the prem we would not have been relegated. The failure to keep Sidwell was the beginning of that ball rolling. It was clear the board were not able or willing to pay the necessary going rate to stay in the prem and it has snow balled since. The very fact that despite all those sales we have managed to stay competitive is a minor miracle and masks over the real issues and it is not sustainable. We had a glimpse of it earlier this season and it slowly turned around. Recent performances in the past few games are showing signs of that potentially coming back. McDermott continues to have us punch above our weight, this league is so tight that a few losses and you're suddenly looking over you shoulder just like a few wins and we're world beaters.
