... very nearly ended up at Bottom Meadow on Tue :P but since I'd seen both the 'Fizzers' and the 'Abbots' in the B&B Trophy already this season - gave it a miss and popped down to:

CCLP Cove 3-6 Hanworth Villa

..cracking game some very good goals and equally bad defending (obviously) Cove have had some wacky scores this season : 4-5, 5-5, a 5-7 v Farnboro aet , 2-7 two 1-7s

... only about 40' away too and a cozy clubhouse - bit tucked away though if you're not too familiar with that bit of Farnborough.

Dulwich Hamlet v Bognor Regis Town at Champion Hill tomorrow. Massive match between 1st and 2nd in Ryman Division 1 South. If Dulwich win, they'll go back to the top of the league, 1 point clear and that's before Bognor lose 3 points when Croydon Athletic officially get kicked out the league (haven't been able to field a team since December 3rd).

Weymouth, average crowd 2011/12........522. Are they going to outsource the team to India or something?

I would be very surprised if Guernsey got above Step 4. Their policy is to use players from the island and they already have the best. Sure, they are walking away with Step 6 but they will face much tougher opposition at Step 5.

Woking is a good shout. Solid support and a good ground even if it is in Man Utd territory.

Bit of a struggle but Windsor still managed to win 2-0. Played really well first half and should have been out of sight. Second half though and we got sloppy. Farnham had only one chance of note. Shame the other results did not go our way.

-- managed to get to RYMAN ISTHMIAN PREMIER Billericay 2-0 Wingate & Finchley - not a great game - 'ricay have some big 'units' in their side so are a threat from any dead-ball moves - W&F actually had a fair amount of the ball but had now't up top where it mattered.
Fairly average Ryman ground mercifully on the edge of town, so not bad access but limited parking and fairly non-existent signeage/stewarding outside - a big and busy bar - slow service (Courage Best - so my mate was happy) -
- crowd of over 400 - lots of 'interesting' Essex types :? plenty of bad language very audible on and off the pitch. Not sure how the club will be graded for STEP02 - would be a distinctly below average standard - one small seated stand - smaller than Marlow's/Windsor's - one long low slung seated area the other side. Wasn't over impressed - presumably would need to find a cash injection should they stay where they are at the top of Ryman Prem. They are being pressed hard by Lowestoft and AFC Hornchurch.
M25 was strangely slight on traffic and not too bad through the two big sets of roadworks - nearly got lost in Brentwood though - Home in time for the best bits of our win at the Vicarage!

(Cold) :| FOOTNOTE:

.... all three local Cup games called off tonight (Mon 16th) for Frost - Binfield announced at 17:00 - Flackwell would not have had far to travel anyway BUT .......

Highmoor/IBIS (Palmer Park) OFF by match Ref at 18:45 - away team Shortwood (Nailsworth Glos.) must have arrived or been very close to Reading by then.

...AND THIS IS THE REAL CORKER

Windsor v Newport Pagnell (at that time of day poss. 1hr to 1hr 30' away) called OFF by match Ref at 19:50  just as the players had finished 'warming up'!

Begs the question why 'pass' a game at a pitch inspection mid-PM when you must be able to work out, that after about 17:00 the temp is going to plummet to or below zero?

... reportedly the Highmoor/IBIS Sec above, was telling anyone who phoned him earlier in the day that there would be no problems with frost - optimistic in the extreme - the pitch probably was fine at 15:00h !

Went to see Colwyn Bay v Vauxhall Motors last night in the BSN.

A fairly entertaining 0-0 that included Frank Sinclair playing centre back for the Bay. I never really rated Frank over the years but seeing him as a 40 year old looking a class apart at Blue Square North level I have grown a new respect for the man's playing abilities.

No Brain Onboard may remember him from his 90s pomp, but for some reason I only remember him as a prolific scorer of own goals during his time at Leicester!

All the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup and Senior Trophy matches scheduled for this week were postponed except for Hungerford v Burnham which was abandoned after 10 minutes. Not sure what would have changed in the ten minutes play at Hungerford. Wantage v Holyport was called off at 6.45 which also is, in my opinion, rather late for a postponement due to a frozen pitch.

Senior Cup
Chalfont St Peter 2 v 3 Wycombe Wanderers aet
Maidenhead United 4 v 1 Abingdon United
Tuesday 17th January
Chesham United P v P Slough Town now on January 24th
Hungerford Town A v A Burnham now on January 24th

Senior Trophy

Tuesday 10th January
Sandhurst Town 3 v 6 Abingdon Town
Reading Town 1 v 2 Binfield
Monday 16th January
Windsor P v P Newport Pagnall Town
Tuesday 17th January
Wantage Town P v P Holyport

Windsor v Newport Pagnell Town rearranged for Monday 23rd January 7.45pm. If that gets called off then it will probably take place the following Monday which will mean Dorking v Windsor in the CCL will have to be rearranged.

Four Of Clubs ... very nearly ended up at Bottom Meadow on Tue :P but since I'd seen both the 'Fizzers' and the 'Abbots' in the B&B Trophy already this season - gave it a miss and popped down to:

CCLP Cove 3-6 Hanworth Villa

..cracking game some very good goals and equally bad defending (obviously) Cove have had some wacky scores this season : 4-5, 5-5, a 5-7 v Farnboro aet , 2-7 two 1-7s

... only about 40' away too and a cozy clubhouse - bit tucked away though if you're not too familiar with that bit of Farnborough.

A couple of years ago me and a mate went to watch Cove and that little sign on West Heath Road that points to Cove FC had been turned around in the wind. My mate didn't know where the ground was, so followed the sign and ended up back in Farnborough town centre. He phoned me 10 minutes into the game wondering where the ground was

Games at Cove have always been high scoring, I remember seeing them get slapped 7-2 a few years back.

Cove have to be one of the worst teams that I have seen this season. Windsor destroyed them 7-1 on their patch and that was without Ryan O'Toole. Friendly club though which can be said for most of the CCL teams.
