Ian Royal Although we could probably pick that up by a 100 or more at least if we get a relly good run going in the league to challenge for promotion.

I actually prefer the fact you can move seats and stand/sit where you want.

not really interested in what level our away support is at.

our home support pre-premiership was on the up for a good 8 years or so and remains a strong average of something like 18k.

swindon and oxford, christ i'd forgotton oxford even existed, couldn't get that average in their stadiums, let alone find the support first.

as for forest mocking us, you don't exactly fill your ground. so to say we have plastics attending home games at this level is very rich.

in the premiership yes there are johnny come lately's, as there are at every club, including forest, derby, leeds etc.

history means bollock all when it comes to buying a club. we don't owe millions to banks. we have the new stadium with plans to expand to 40k, and we can fill that in the top flight with those johnny come lately's, as i'm sure forest can. we have the new training ground, the dome, all the land included with the stadium, the hotel (yet to see if this is included in the 51% or will be later if the remaining 49% is purchased). we also have one of the best academy's outside of the top flight.

reading is a very appealing club to buy. forest and their debt, derby and theirs, the likes of bolton etc and theirs are not.

personally couldn't care less at anyone being jealous of us. deal with it. if it all goes wrong i still wont care what people think. i'm in for the ride and loving this.

i also prefer to be disliked than liked, so suck it up!

i still can't get my head around being one of the richest clubs in the country/europe.

Just a bit of fun really to see what others are saying.

Some decent and humourous ones from Cardiff.

This might sound ridiculous, but are we actually now regarded as one of the richest clubs in England. I'm still getting my head around this. So this russian guy really is worth £BBB??

If this is true I need to lie down.

Surely this is too good to be true.

The way every fan is going on about it on other forums it sounds true and were seen as being in the Man C, PSG, Malaga bracket!!

Won't know for sure until March at the earliest, I seriously doubt we'd be particularly rich from the information we've got though.

Take the fact that we are not in a situation where we are trawling around a vast debt then investment isn't being used to balance the books.

Farnborough Royal
FiNeRaIn Oxford fan:

"Hope so, their average away attendance being over 100 below ours, for the championship, shows how many plastics turn out for home games".

Really does speak volumes, how do we have less of an away following than oxford.

Sorry to take the thread off course, but as of 7th Jan, these are the average away followings for clubs in the FL and BSP.

So Oxford AND Swindon take more away than us.

If Finch still went you'd be above Swindon. 8)

If you lived in or near Oxford, you'd be desperate to get away from there as often as possible too!

Simples!

The best I hope for all this, is to continue in the "Reading Way" and buy some young talent, develop them well, slowly build a decent team, and become a decent side - without doing it too quickly and without compromising our integrity.

Buying a few young players, and actually giving them a game would be nice - how many young stars get picked up by Premiership clubs, and you never hear of them again?

It would be nice to see the likes of Bertrand and Rhodes (and the Sig!) come here, and be part of a good team, which gets promoted and stays promoted - who get games and for fill their potential! We've always been about the youth - for a good ten years at least - it would be a shame to turn our back on that.

And more importantly, like all these other "fallen giants" who are straddled with debt (Forest, Derby, Leeds etc) - it would be Amazing to actually come out of this, with out any debt - to continue to be well run.

I would HATE with a passion, to spend some big bucks, even with the short term success, to end up relegated two tiers, have no money and shed loads of debt, bemoaning the state of the game - because we cocked up like Derby, Ipswich, Forest + Leeds etc

From Despair To Where?
muddyfeet Was just doing this, most forums seem to be in disbelief why they chose us

I think one of the posts on the origanal article on the Daily Mail website sums it up nicely. Basically a well run club with a well established and strong management structure, huge potential, next to no debts and a physical infrastructure that requires no upgrading. As i saw an Everton fan state, why buy a club for £40m knowing that you will then have to find another £60m to build a new stadium

Can you please tell what HUGE potential Reading has?

You got to the Premier League, then got relegated and attendances have since dropped. Illustrated by the away fans' charts, are you telling me you've got huge potential to get back into the Premier League, to compete in the Premier League? Or huge potential like Nicky Hammond said; being as big as Arsenal?

You're a nothing club going no where other than yo-yoing at best. No Russian multi millionaire is going to change that. He's not even that rich, let alone being rich enough to drastically change the fortunes of a yo-yo club. As with any investor, he'll look for a return. He's not going to risk his own money just for fun. At worst, you'll spend wrecklessly and get into financial trouble, possibly getting relegated. At best, you'll be a Bolton staying in the Premier League. Big oxf*rd deal.

Finch got out at the right time. RFC is going no where and never will.

FiNeRaIn Woeful support  good god.

Indeed it is, we will never match leeds or hammers but can see this now increasing with the interest that will surely pick up from this potential takeover
