Given that, as far as I can see, the national media hasn't really picked up on this proposed takeover yet, is it not possible the 'big transfer story' is just the revelation that we are getting a big backer?

No as The Mail have been the only ones to really run with it online and in paper. They've also been the ones to reveal the most details

URZZ Yeah, not being funny but big transfer really cannot result in Roberts, surely? If so, they really do underestimate us as a club, classing Roberts a big signing for us.

you're what, 18 years old? or there abouts? you can tell. at the end of the day he's an experienced striker with a proven strike record. at 33 he can do a job this season. wouldn't expect a youngster to appreciate that though.

Scored 5 goals in 27 apps last year. If you look at our current strikers, they've done that this season and he was playing at a higher level and thats the level he's been playing at for a good few years now. Doesn't seem too bad

Yep, for West Brom in the Championship he scored 22 goals in 59 games.

For Wigan in the Championship he scored 21 goals in 45 games.

43 goals in 104 games overall.

Almost 1 in 2, probably is when you count in minutes and all that.

Pretty impressive if you ask me at this level.

So?

As a Man Utd fan surely you've seen how players can play at a good level way into their 30's.

Nothing wrong with experience, and he'd still be playing for Blackburn if it weren't for his contractual issues.

Even Yakubu managed to score goals in the Chumpionship last season and he's in his 50's.

I'd be more than happy with Roberts. Won't cost the earth & no risk at all. The more striking options we have the better as far as I'm concerned.

I really think you're missing the point.

Aaargh! Stop talking about Roberts. Useful loan signing; not a "big transfer story". That's it.

We are little old Reading. This is a big transfer story! Who are we expecting to be linked with exactly?! Ronaldo?

No ffs, but the only point I was making is, I can see us at least making bigger signings than that in the future, i.e summer. It's hardly a massive signing, good maybe - yes.

Why not? He's still in good shape.

Just need a couple of lady boys to seal the deal. I'm sure Anton can see to that though.
