melonhead i think the management team looked at the offer and knew they couldnt turn it down for multitudinous reasons

only one of which was that the club couldnt afford to

i do however believe that brian believes he could have got long to stay another year with this investment
i even believe he may just have been able to do so

They had both signed new contracts so I think it was the offers made for them that meant they had to go as they were too good to turn down.

As we know everyone has their price.....it's just now that WE can afford it

Royal Lady You don't think Hammond and SJM TOLD McD he HAD to sell them? That's the vibe I got after both sales tbf....

Now all has to do is say "no" to a Russian billionaire (who has an "encyclopaedic knowledge of football") when he wants to make 'suggestions'
for the first team...[/quote

It is denied that this will be the case. Yet of course changes will be suggested. Otherwise the kopecks would not be provided. Sometimes the manager may not reconcile the change. But when it rains one doesn't roof the cottage, and the roof is not leaking when it doesn't rain.

I wondered that. I suppose money talks though - that, or threatening to poison Graham...

Hoop Blah The ambition bit potentially being quite key.

I've always felt that the way we didn't chase a European place in '07 signalled to the players that the club wasn't somewhere they were going to continue to grow as players and took an edge off of us for the follow (relegation) season.

relegation was one of madejski happiest days

what a lot of rollox- its lost him about 40 million quid, at least

Which bit of that are you struggling with SF?

As a club we didn't ask to be considered for the Inter-Toto (European competition and a route into the UEFA Cup) and Coppell didn't want to qualify for the UEFA Cup through the league position because he was too worried about what the extra demands would do.

How much Coppell's lack of interest effected us over the last few games is hard to tell but I think both he, and certainly Dillion, have admitted that Coppell didn't want to qualify.

not any more- but the only time we didnt lose money was when we were in the prem- so if he wasnt in the business to lose money - the prem was the best/only place for him

he made enough to pay off his loans.. which was what he wanted. premier league comes with certain things the championship doesn't.. one is show of ambitions.. better for him to dwell mid table paying his loan off versus trying to impress fans by staying in the premier league, which he was never going to do going by his premier league signings
