Even in silly season and in the midst of takeover madness that seems wild.

Couldn't see McD being so keen to flog Church either, nor see Church himself accepting a move down a division (however much we may feel he belongs there).

It wont happen for the simple reason, he will cost loads, EPL teams are looking at him, we are aiming to be prudent and we have ALF, HUNT, CHURCH, MANSET, ROBERTS and SHEPPARD!

If we get promoted this season, then a summer move is a real possibility, but even then we would look for a someone who has been in the EPL!!

Rhodes will never happen ...West Ham now back in for him as well.....

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce made a new £3.25million bid for Huddersfield hot-shot Jordan Rhodes as his striker search went frantic.

Allardyce went in again for Rhodes, the country’s top marksman, after failing in an attempt to land Nikica Jelavic from Rangers.

...Billy Sharp a far more realistic signing IMHO....

I've seen Church thrown in to this transfer twice now. It would bring the price down a bit, and it wouldn't hurt us to let him go either. I wonder.

Vision ...I meant i can't see Rhodes coming to us but I could see Sharp as a more likely option..and I think if WHU are back in , Rhodes may see that as a preferred option given their league standing currently

Billy Sharp didn't settle at Sheffield Utd. What makes anyone think that Reading would be any easier? Throw in the Marcus Williams saga and the more I feel that this is a non-starter.

One thing that puzzles me though; why sign Sheppard if the Club KNEW that there were roubles coming in?

Becasue the rate him quite highly? Thats like saying why did Sunderland sign James McClean as they have a fair bit of money and could have signed someone more expensive (oh and he is a regular in their first team already and putting in good performances).

Why would we sell our best striker and gamble on a player who plays in league one

Where's the ambition

I think 5M plus Church for Rhodes would be a good deal all round. 5M is a lot but Rhodes really does look like the real deal to me. Big strong and skilful. Church should so very well at League 1 level and it would improve his confidence if he scores regularly.

Then we would have a dream partnership of Rhodes and Roberts to start a game with Hunt and ALF in reserve.

Manset could be loaned to a League 1 club until the end of the season to see if he can make an impression at that level.

If we do that PL here we come.

Hope you are listening Anton!!

Fwiw I dont think we would get rid of church at the moment, I also don't think we will get Rhodes in this window, although I would love us to. The summer may be a different scenario though!

Personally I would have Rhodes and ALF with roberts of the bench.

I'd take Church to the nearest vet, to be honest.

He's had a good innings, had lots of love... it would be the kindest thing to do.

You didnt state top scorer you said best striker..

Church may currently be the top scorer well actually hes equal to Alf who is actually the best striker at the club.

I Wouldn't be happy if Church was moved on. He's better than most think and has very good link up play.Out of the strikers we have on our books now I would flog Manset, Hunt, Williams and Baseya.

Manset has had his chances, his fitness is poor and he doesn't look after himself.
Hunt is a nice guy, workaholic, but in terms of FOOTBALLING ability he has none. Plus, he's injury prone.
Williams is in his last year of his contract i think and he's had a fair few injuries as well. On top of that he didn't impress in pre-season.
Baseya was a punt but I think with the strikers we've got ahead of him he might be better off elsewhere.
