Did anyone else watch the Swansea win yesterday?

Gylfi was absolutely fantastic and scored one and made one. No chance of him coming back here I am afraid. I think someone will buy him for a lot of money next summer if he carries on like this.

I still think that RFC made the biggest mistake ever by cashing in on him early. He will be a 20M plus player without doubt.

I think if we had kept him last season we would have gone up.

Promotion > £7m.

...and if we'd not sold him (& filled the blackhole) and then Sig got injured in training on Sep 2nd we'd have been faaaaaaacked on both counts

So we should sell any player worth a decent amount of money in case they get injured? :|

Not quite - just that the hypothetical situation could've arisen.

As it goes, I thought (at the time he was sold) that we'd cashed in at a good time as he wasn't guaranteed to replicate his same success in 2nd season onwards. With hindsight and seeing a little more since then, I wish we'd kept him.

I think everyone wished that we had kept him but the club decided to sell for the greater good of the club.
With the new owner we may find that if we get another Gylfi we can hold on to him unless any of the top 5 or 6 come calling from the Premier League-such is the case with the rest of the Premier League as well as us lower division clubs.

Mildly interesting article on Gylfi by an Icelandic fan on Swans website:

I'm sure that's got his age when he joined us wrong. Wasn't he 15 or 16 when he came here?

Was at the game in the company of floyd, Compo's Hat and Svlad, quick diversion whilst en route to Doncaster.

In truth it was a pleasure to watch him again, yet sickening at the same time. He didn't look out of place at all on the big stage, grew more into the game as it opened up. His natural ability is something else and I find it remarkable that people considered (and still do consider) that Adel Taraabt was a better player. As floyd pointed out, he gets muscled off the ball too easily but in all honesty it doesn't happen often because his first touch is almost always into space.

Incidentally, Shorey looked fairly decent I thought but it's fair to say that he's not popular up there. Simon Cox came on and did the square root of bugger all. Leroy Lita didn't get on the bench, likewise Shane Long.

WBA had the chance to sign Sig and they didn't. More fool Hodgson.

There's an argument to say that if he'd stayed with us he wouldn't have developed into a £20m player (unless we also went up and then he impressed again at the higher level - quite a leap of faith).

As a Championship player I don't think we'd ever have sold him for more than we did, irrespective of how classy a player he really was.

Yeah, but you said it as if he *could * have been on the bench, but wasn't. Rather than just stating he was injured. :|

I miss lita... It's a shame about his personality because behind that he was a pacey, skilful finisher who would probably be doing very well in the championship right now
