Ian Royal
Man Friday Ms Brady stated: "If you've made money and want to invest it in a business, you should be allowed to. The investment should probably not be in terms of a loan. If you've borrowed from the bank to loan it to a football club then there's a chain that can cause a catostrophic effect, but if you want to dump £50m into a football club, to go and make Torquay the best in the region (for example), you should not be prevented from doing that."

By the way, I shan't bother reading the replies.

Shame you won't be reading any replies, you might educate yourself about why you are so fundamentally wrong. Perhaps you could list all these owners who have put in money as gifts rather than loans or converting money into shares? Because I'm not sure I can think of any. The majority of time the reason someone doesn't get their money out of a club is because they can't afford to run it any more and it's up shit creek so they sell it for a couple of quid on the understanding the new owner takes on the debt.

That quote is about borrowing money you don't have to put into a football club IMO. Not about simply gifting money to a club, which essentially happens very very rarely.

Madejski's investment has always been openly in the form of loans and share options. If you didn't understand that it's because you didn't pay enough attention.

What a very selective memory you are demonstrating with that latter assertion! 'always' 'openly'?? I think not.

I do not believe I was imagining all of those interviews on the radio and quotes in the media during the early days when the very clear impression was given that money was being given because he wanted to put something back into the local community. Remember the cajoling of the local community to come and support the club as he was putting so much in? Rember references to giving so that the club could do whatever? Wasn't there talk of him paying the money (not loaning) for the purchase of players? Remember talk of putting money in with no expectation of getting back?

Maybe I was just imagining it!

Loans etc only became transparent and obvious later on as I can recall.

You'll have to remind me, RoyalBlue, how much money has SJM loaned to the club, and how much has he taken back? Has his promise to 'give something back to the local community' been fulfilled yet (bearing in mind that at the time he took over we were nearly out of business, and now we are a pretty well-established club which has been to the PL and is consistently pushing to get back there)?

Mind you, all the bad things that you suppose have been done, and are still being done by SJM are almost certainly nearly true. Why do I think that? Because you and a few others are saying it, that's why. Why are you saying it? No idea!!

On the subject of owners / Chairmen donating money to clubs as gift, didn't Elton John do such a thing for Watford?

I think Elton John performs a concert at Vicarage Road every year and gives all the proceeds to Watford.

$750m, not £'s, and that is his fathers money, not Anton's - though some reports believe his Dad will be a backer.

As I've mentioned previously, it was stated that JM paid the £1 million for Lita out of his own money. Not sure how that is shown on the accounts, mind.

THe latest figure I saw said that his father was worth around $1.4bn. But he keeps his interests very private does Boris so there is very little information about him in the public domain.

To me it looks like Anton is the public face for his fathers money. But that doesn't preclude that he has his own money that he has made.

Anton is an entrepreneur and his dad is looking for investment opportunities outside of Russia so he backs it. Anton does the day to day.

Boris keeps his privacy, Anton gets to use his education to expand the family wealth and corporate interests.

This Ener1 company in the US has the potential to grow what with electric vehicles looking likely to replace the combustion engine and he also has at least three software houses, they haven't yet had a hit but it only takes one to make those guys a billionaire dollars with the volumes that get sold if you do.

He looks well placed, as a 29 year old to make yet more money. If he's smart. He only went to Bearwood college though, so that remains to be seen ;)

Let's face it, if you start out with a sh!t load of money you've not got to be brains of britain (or Russia) to make more.
