Snowball Let's just say I knew Connolly would start.

You mean you thought he'd start?

Or are you saying that you'd been told by McDermott that he was coming in to start as soon as he was available?

By the way, when you say Harte was the only player who could've been dropped, he'd already been dropped so he was actually one player who certainly COULDN'T be!

no. he knew.
david icke told him.

lol. you are a pathetic human being.
lol at actually caring, or thinking i care if you turn out o be right, you massive mentalist.

you have severe issues

Wow! You're saying he's a support player, I'm saying he's a first-11 player.

What's mental, mentalist or aggressive about that? What is there in my post to piss you off?

if he plays 17 games it will because he grew into the postion he was asked to play, and got better and better,
making it impossible for brian to drop him- and if that happens ill be ecstatic, cos it means we'll have kept
winning football games, and weve managed to aquire yet another quality player in the window. the last
thing i think about in that situation is whether some mentalist on tinternet was righter than me.

But we are talking about NOW. You say he's brought in as a support player. I'm saying he was brought in to play every game.

I'm trying to say that it wasn't "lucky" he got to play versus Coventry, McDermott desperately wanted to play him.

We disagree, is all

your massive ego- and the insistence on making everything about you.
and the fact that you cant distinguish between making an educated guess, and knowing something.

& ive said nowt like it- i said hes a very good player,i said he had a very assured debut, i said i hope he does play 17 games, ive also said id be surprised if cummings doesnt come back in, unless hes out for a few games and connolly manages to secure that spot through excellent displays, which is certainly possible. he is quality.
these are things ive said.

he was lucky- we had injuries to both the right backs who had played in all the previous games.
your insistance that brian made up injuries to two of our players, so that he could play connely is silly.
i dont think any manager should, and i dont think brian does, decide that any player will play the rest of the season if fit(apart from federici) with 17 games to go. i think, and i hope brian does too that its better to look at fitness and form over that whole run of games and decide accordingly.i hope beyond hope that connelly becomes the best right back weve ever had and takes us ino europe.
if that happens i wont be secretly detesting the fact you once said he was good. and if it doesnt happen, i wont be whooping away to any one thatll listen, and the hundreds that have stopped, like you do when you are right.

I will definitely put my guess as not 17.,

Not much of a bet, that you win if he plays 16.

Pick a number and let's see who's closet come the end of the season.
Of course if you say 16, you'll have a great chance to be closer as I've said 17.

But surely, if he's a support player, Cummings will come straight back in
and Connolly will be lucky to get six starts?

I'd be mildly surprised if he gets in ahead of cummings when hes fit.

I think we are a better side with Connolly in for Cummings (I like Cummings) but I
think Connolly will keep the shirt. (He may of course get switched to another position)

connolly looked decent, but he hardly eclipsed sean with any amazing brilliance on saturday.

Sean is a good player and may very well one day be a great player and I like him a lot. Since he came into the side
we have conceded 19 goals in 23 games and are equal top of the defence table with Hull.

I STILL think we'll be better with Connolly, even if he plays RB

he could get a game again at left back if hartes form drops

True, but I think McDermott wants an older, experienced back four.

But all I have been saying is I expected Connolly to be found a place in virtually every game.

or at DM if ledge or karacan drop out through injury, same as at CB if pearce/gorkss get injured/become shit.
he may even get a couple during periods of time where we play a lot of games together through rotation to cover tiredness.

Possible, but I keep saying that IMO he is one of the first few on the team sheet

Fed, Gorkss, Pearce, Ledge, Roberts & Connolly, McAnuff as Captain (if he is OK), Kebster, probably Karacan unless we loan a big star AM

(and, I think, he prefers Harte but has to keep him motivated to perform)

leaving second striker as the only slightly-flexible spot.

your massive ego- and the insistence on making everything about you.

WTF?

How is this "about me"? We just have a difference of opinion. I watched what the man said
and how he said it, got a VERY strong impression that he had more-or-less been persuaded to
come to RFC because he was promised he'd be playing. And every word McDermott said at the
time and since indicated he was a RFC first-eleven player in his eyes. We spent up to get him
and he's a classic loan-with-a-view-to-buying.

Sorry, but a player with his pedigree is currently MUCH better than Sean (who I like)

and the fact that you cant distinguish between making an educated guess, and knowing something.

You say. Let's put it another way. I would have bet big on my "guess".

You said he was in as a cover player

hell play support until injury or loss of form gets him in the side

I disagree. I think he expected to get in almost immediately and STAY in.
I believe that was McDermott's intention and he was never "a support player"

That's a major difference in our opinions. I think he'll play the next 17 games if he avoids injury
and if the only place he can play is RB he will keep Sean out

I've never really understood why people get so bent about Snowball's posts but this is making it clear, it's utter bollocks m8, no matter how much you put someone and injured in speech marks

thats the point- i have no interest in betting with you. or in being righter than you, or in beating you in some crazy game of guess the future
i hope he plays all 17 games. if he does it wont be because you said he would, and the fact that he has, and you said so wont have any effect on me whatsoever.i will be nothing but happy at his performances and how this has impacted the team positively

its just another episode in the snowball look at me show. you are tedious, and odious, and many other words ending in ious.
im bored of you, and your stats, and the ridiculous extended arguments they provoke over stuff that is mainly about you, not teh football.and i have no interest if you manage to get to th eend of the season and publish huge wordy posts about how right you were about everything.

i never mentioned support player-you did.
i looked at all of brians previous record in man man and team management and think hes unlikely to drop cummings for the rest of the season, since hes been solid, and ever present, and that would be harsh.i believe this would be uncharateristic.his best bet would be left back, but after hartes great perfromance on saturday id say that is even less likely than cummings. and theres no way he gets in ahea of pearce and gorkss at teh moment- unless our form dips.

you didnt say you expected, you said you "knew"
and the fact that you think brian has gone to sean cummings and said "im sorry sean, i know you arent injured, but im dropping you, and telling everyone else that you are injured so i can get this other player into your position" makes me think you are off your rocker.

is all im trying to say........

Sorry, but a player with his pedigree is currently MUCH better than Sean (who I like)

[/quote]

the pedigree of being a solid and dependable CB in the QPR championship winning side, that was considered by two managers to not be good enough to play for them there in the premiere league, wasnt wanted by any other premiere league team?

thats a maldiniesque pedigree right there.

hes good. i like him. i hope he plays every game.

shh.

Swerving rapidly away from the hot topic

Connolly is left footed, yes? Or at least primarily? He took at least one free kick with his right but I thought he was more comfortable on his left.

I don't think HE was lucky.

Maybe McDermott was. I believe McDermott was going to play him no matter what (presuming he was fit)

your insistance that brian made up injuries to two of our players, so that he could play connely is silly.

Nice sleight of hand. I gave plenty of other possibilities. For example "resting a player who has a long-standing injury."

At this time of the year most players play through injuries. It's easy for a manger to decided a player needs a medical rest.

i dont think any manager should, and i dont think brian does, decide that any player will play the rest of the season if fit(apart from federici) with 17 games to go.

Of course not, AND THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M SAYING. Do I have to post every codicil to every statement?

I'm saying that Connolly is class, that he is seen as a player that McDermott intends to and hopes to play every game
and he would drop Cummings or the LB to play him. I could also see him dropping Karacan if he had to and moving Elwood forward
just to play Connolly.

We brought in Roberts and we KNOW McD intends to play him, if fit, every game (someone has to give way)

I think exactly the same over Connolly. It's a simple as that.

Just to save me the bother of looking, could you point me in the direction of a post you might have made before the game where you said he would start, and in which position?

I never mentioned support player????

im not so sure why you suddenly make him shoe in as first choice every week, or why he would either.

hell play support until injury or loss of form gets him in the side, and he plays a blinder, then it will be down to the others to wait their turn like he did.

im saying that this would be hugely demotivating to sean cummings, regardless of how the manager dressed it up to him

i agree if a player is good enough, he deserves to play ahead of another player hes better than. i just think he'll have to prove that first.

thats not all season, thats until he gets into the side and proves that he deserves that spot.
which is subtly different to saying hell step right in the side , right away, at the expense of whoever brian wants to oxf*rd over, regardless of the form and fitness of those other players.
and also subtly different to saying hell only ever play if someone is injured.
