TBM, not sure there's any signal of intent from any club for Federici in the latest story. They're more reporting that Federici yet again issued a come and get me plea to the Premier League on the same day as Villa lost their keeper.

Woodcote Royal Two of those links are from 2010 and one from June last year yet even then, with him being shortly out of contract, Brian McDermott was yet to receive a single offer :P

Please feel free to find something more recent because I still think we should cash in.

Make your mind up - you wanted to know how many were "interested" not ones who put bids in........

Woodcote Royal I'm not interested in other clubs 'keepers but even if Fed was deemed good enough for back up in the top flight we would know about it.

Why not show me any evidence, amongst all the wild speculation that goes on throughout any transfer window, of the slightest top flight interest in our goalkeeper.

All I remember is panic over losing McCarthy.

I heard Adie Williams claiming Kebe had had just 6 decent games this season when his recent absence has shown just how blunt we look without him........................... :|

If Federici is the best in this division he must be one of a very poor bunch that no one deems good enough for the top flight.

If I get it right, you're saying that Feds can't be the best keeper in the Championship because no Premier league sides tried to poach him in the recent Window?

What a load of codswallop!!!

Feds ain't gonna want to move to warm the bench, or sit in the reserves for a PL side, he'll want to be starting, or at least in with a shout of starting....
How many Premier League sides signed new first / second choice keepers in the Window? None that I can think of.....

And why would we hear anything if a side approached Hammond, simply to be told "bugger off, he's ours"?

We have taken points from a number of games this season, not least vs Coventry at the weekend, on the strength of Feds performance, meanwhile I cannot think of any games this year since the first six (where we were defensively frail), where he can be held to account for us losing any points. That to me makes him at minimum, a very good 'keeper.

Incidentally, if he's not the best in the Championship, then who is? From what I've seen I can't think of many candidates....

tbh its taking the thread off course - how does knowing how many Premiership teams put bids in for a player determine how good they are?

How many bids did we receive for Long last January?

That would be interest and/or bids in 2012 as opposed to 2010 :|

Woodcote - you aren't really putting up much of an argument. Rather than attacking people, put some facts up on who you think is the best keeper in the championship!?? and why Feds isn't

Because the chances of the best keeper in the 2nd tier being of no interest to any clubs in the top flight are almost nil.

As opposed to your own who, when asked for some evidence of interest in our keeper, comes with 2 year old links :|

I think Federici is nothing special and have merely asked for some reasonable evidence that he is CURRENTLY being rated so highly beyond the Mad Stad

I think it's you who needs to look at his case.

:| In that case how come no other [1st choice] keeper in the league went to a Premiership club?

And its YOU who is trying to say that to determine how good a player is, its based on how many teams have enquired about said player

We got shit loads of bids for Long last January didn't we?!

Agreed. Just pointing it out.

Being the best in the Championship doesn't mean you'd necessarily attract a bid for all sorts of reasons. We may never hear about it even it there was so there's not a lot of point to this strand of the debate.

We could have got shit loads for Long last January so, YES, even when half the East stand were STILL saying Long was wasn't good enough for this division, he was attracting Premiership interest AND the club made a point of telling us about it. That's what happens to 2nd tier players who are GENUINELY among the best at this level.

It doesn't matter how many times you, Adie Williams or others sing his praises, if those who count thought he was worth the risk, he would have left months ago.

So who put a bid in for Long last January and why didn't someone take a risk on him before then?

The club made a point of telling us that they had had to fight off interest from other clubs (in the January window) but that Shane had agreed to sign a new contract with us because he wanted to play in the top flight for Reading.

He signed the contract in November 2010.........

Can you now give me links, like you asked for Feds, of who put a bid in for him in the January window

I'm no experts in contracts but wasn't his old one due to expire in the summer which may have meant he could talk to other clubs 6 months before?

Either way, the club went public on the interest he attracted in the January transfer window.

EDIT. I only asked you for some reasonable evidence of ANY recent interest in Federici.

No he couldn't have talked to anyone, until the June time

So basically your point about "if he's any good then Premiership sides would have put a bid in" is, how can i put it, bollocks!?

Hmmm, isn't that a stat?

Seems to me that people are here saying that mere opinion
is not good enough and that we need outside evidence.

Sorry that is nonsense.

If a player is out of contract at the end of the season he can, quite rightly, enter talks some months ahead.
