sandman We're winning (yes, I know what I've just done) so what's the point of changing atm?

blueroyals He was probably only signed to shut all the fans up who were moaning for an attacking midfielder. In reality there is no place for him in the team (much like there was no place for Matejovski and Howard) and he will never play for us (unless down the wing). Brian is perfectly happy playing 2 DM's and winning games dirty.

How useless is he now? He's a linking striker, he won't get 20 goals a season, but he is vital and just about every striker he's played with since he's been here he has helped to improve and you can tell they appreciate him.

SCIAG There was definitely a need for something else to help us break down defences that sit deep, and there has been since Sigurdsson left.

sandman I have seen potential in Alf whereas other make him out to be far better than he is and judge him on Jamie Cureton's exploits ten years ago rather than on his own merits. If you want us to play better football then I suggest your problem is with the central midfield rather than Noel Hunt who like I say does his job very well.
Ask Kevin Doyle and Shane Long who their favourite strike partner was at Reading and I think you'd find Noel Hunt's name would be the answer.

sandman You ask them who got the most out of them as a striker then Noel would be number 1 or at the very least up there in the top two. Doyle didn't play that well with Lita with several people on here saying they struggled together. You are, once again, mixing up goal scoring with an effective understanding between two players.
The second half of last season coincided with Hunt coming back from an injury and playing more games which allowed Shane to play more centrally so I'd say it had quite a lot to do with Shane's upturn in goal scoring form.

I would say the upturn in Long's scoring form resulted from the widemen coming into form. I disagree- Doyle played very well with Lita for a season and a half and Kitson played very well with almost every striker he played with. The only thing you can credit Hunt with is his closing down and his click ons, neither have anything to do with the ball at FEET

sandman Well I remember the Sheffield United home game being a particular game where they struggled together with their link up play. They certainly weren't as good as Doyle was with Kitson or when Noel arrived.
