Depressingly, I'm way ahead for the prize. Will there be an awards ceremony?

Brighton 0-1 Reading

First away win was also my first away game in the 1993/94 promotion season. Scott Taylor scored in front off the away end to send us top of the league.

Anyone remember the save Shaka made in the OP's game? He made several great saves when he was here but this one he had to get low down in the corner and managed too claw it away which for somone as tall as he is wasn't.easy. Absolutely brilliant goalkeeping.

Really struggling to remember...

...but pretty sure it would it was against Portsmouth in the relegation season. 2-0 with Skittles getting the 2nd. It was the first time we'd won there since the 70's and was a rare highlight in Taxi's reign. Nice warm day if I recall.

I got chased by 5 locals and met Barry Hunter on crutches.

What a line up

Team: Mautone, Booty, Sandford, Houghton, McPherson, Primus, Parkinson, Hodges, Asaba, Williams, Lambert.

1-5 against Colchester Utd in 1967. Can't remember who scored, but there were about 200 of us capering about in the pouring rain at their end as the goals just kept going in.

looking back, I'm quite surprised, but it looks to have been QPR 1 Reading 3 in the Simod Cup 1st Round. I remember walking back to the station and having a thought of "wouldn't it be great if we went all the way" before dismissing the idea as nonsense.

The first league win was a 1-0 at WBA a couple of months later (quickly followed by a 2-0 at Huddersfield the following weekend). I remember being at the station near the Hawthorns, and some Reading fan was pretty miserable because he thought we should have done better than draw 0-0. Somebody had to point out that we'd actually won, but that lad had missed the goal because he'd be chucked out of the ground at half time, and only sneaked back in after we'd scored.

I think it was probably our 2-0 win at Bury on a very wet evening in 2000. Goals for Curo and Butler and a wet drive home.

Newport 0 Reading 2 - RECORD BREAKERS!

Great day out. Managed to push myself to the front with a stool as only terrace I knew which sloped the opposite way. I think that was County's record attendance.

Shrewsbury in 87/88, also my first away game. Francis Joseph scored the only goal of the game. We were shit that season but I got to 5 aways games (6 including the Simod Cup Final) and we won at Shrewsbury, QPR (Simod Cup), Crystal Palace and Plymouth. Villa Park was the only away ground I didn't see us win at.

Crystal Palace 0-2 Reading. I'm sure Lee Nogan scored one, I think the other might be have been an own goal. Seem to remember Palace having a decent team with the likes of Nigel Martyn and Dougie Freedman.

Second ever away match was Palace v Reading the following season, which was far more notable thanks to a female streaker AND a Paul Bodin screamer.

Fox Talbot Aldershot Aug 1971 - Les Chappell scored 2 in the first 10 minutes and we hung on in a Div 4 derby that I never expected we would ever play in. Great Reading support from the half-way line. Lovely sunny day. No violence that I can recall!

That was my first "away win" too. I thought Terry Bell scored that day, though.

Bizarre. My first as well. Took my little sister with me and stood in the corner by the old railway line.

Not sure of my first away game (or home one or my own name sometimes) but can remember going to Swindon before segregation. Stood slightly behind my Mum to get a better view. Was wearing a duffle coat with the hood up. A group of Swindon supporters arrived somewhat the worse for drink. Suddenly one turned round, whipped it out and started having a pee right in front of me. Then his friends notice me and start shouting "It's a girl" Poor bloke -Tried to stop but once he'd started he had to keep going. :o .

I have a sneaky feeling Fratton Park was undergoing some sort of re-development (don't laugh) at the time hence the smaller that usual crowd...I may be wrong of course!

The first away game I went to was at Craven Cottage in March 91 and we drew 1-1 (with Fulham obv). I've been to 41 away games in the 20 odd years since then and I've yet to see us win!

Most recent game was 0-0 vs Palace in October and as a word of warning, I'm considering a trip to the Amex or St. Marys in April as I've yet to visit either stadium.

mid 80's, on the terrible away terrace at Boothferry Road versus Hull City; Paul Canoville ripped them to pieces and I though "we have a chance with that bloke!" A few days later, Canoville was seriously injured at Sunderland and that was that for the lad.
