I think he is one game behind Roberts and has only played (and won) 4.

JC Colin Baillie played in the first 7 games in 1985/86. Andy Rogers played in 12 of the 13 wins so that is probably the best in terms of consecutive victories

Except there were 2 LC defeats in the 13 match winning start which scuppers thatah run. Best run of consecutive wins in matches started by a [;ayer is 14 by Dick Spiers from 08/04/67 to 13/09/67 inclusive. He played in 12 consecutive wins, missed the defeat on 06/09/67 and then played in 2 more wins, bnefore appearing ni a draw on 16/09/67.

Ledgedid go unbeaten in 17 consecutive games from his debut, beating the previousl best debutant record of 16 starts by Bryn Gunnarsson, (of course not all these games wer consecutive for the team, they were consecutive for the games the player started in).

So I'll need to dig out most consec wins from debut ....

I think I may have found the answer.

Including League, LC, FAC etc, (which scuppers the 85/6 debutants), the record seems to be 6.

Ernie Yard had to wait 3m for his debut, but when he did he won 6 consec games (5 lg 1 FAC - 16/11/66 to 17/12/66), before losing his 7th start.

Tommy Tait went straight into the team oo signing, anf has the same record as EY, (4 lg 2 FAC - 10/11/34 to 15/12/34).

William Robsob did an EY, joining in July 34, but not getting a debut until 10/11/34 alongside TT. He played the same games as TT so has the same record.

Danny Bailey, Jason Roberts and George Marks all won their 1st five starts from debut.

Kevin Watson and John Salako both had 5 winning starts from debut, but they both missed a game in that run (17/11/01).
Strangely both were on loan
Finally, Mathieu Manset's 1st five starts were all wins, but the missed games in between.

Matthew Connolly of course has an ongoing record of 4 wins since debut.

Thanks for that, strap. It's really interesting. So, if we can win at Millwall on Saturday, Jason may have a club record to break against Portsmouth on Tuesday.

Your mention of Dick Spiers previously brought back memories of Elm Park. I remember him well - a centre half constructed like a giraffe. Got his head to most things hardly needing to jump.

George Shipley on loan end of 1978/79?

Played in last 13 games of which we were undefeated, didn't concede a goal and ended up champions.
