Extended-Phenotype Assists do not form part of the official rules of football.

That makes me incredibly sad.

Extended-Phenotype The criteria can vary depending on whomever is keeping the data.

WHOMever? Pass.

Most commonly though, a player is awarded an assist if he wins a scored penalty, unless
he himself scores it. Universally, players can’t assist themselves in any circumstance.

I don't care. I award a Major Contribution for merely WINNING a penalty, and anybody
who cannot understand that the winning of a penalty is TOTALLY separate from whether
it is scored, just needs to go lie down and try actual THINKING.

PS The site I have quote DOES give Roberts an assist for the penalty HE took (and missed/scored)

The consensus seems to be that Roberts would have an assist if the penalty was taken and scored by someone else.

Majority opinion is the opinion of the masses. Not interested.

If that someone missed the pen, but then scored the rebound in open play, there would be no assist.

Shame about that web-site (and my stats, cos I DO award the "assist" or Major Contribution to be precise.

In which case, it seems even more daft to suggest an assist when that player is the same person.

Why do so many round here play straw man all the time.

I award a MC for winning a penalty.

(a) For winning a penalty.
(b) Whover takes the penalty
(c) Whether the penalty is scored or not.

What I am interested in is some measure of what the attackers DO, and winning pens,
forcing saves, hitting the woodwork, getting actual assists, being involved in a 3-man
move etc, all these matter, and, in toto, give a measure of the player

A penalty was won, but not scored, by the same person. I can’t really see where the assist is in that scenario.

See above. and that website

Just because ONE, yes ONE, website agrees with you does not mean you are right. There is a common theme in your rambling post - I. The problem is that the HNA masses do not agree with you and becuase of that no one will take your stats seriously.

I don't care. And anyway it's not the HNA masses, it's the loud empty-vessels
into blood-sports, plus a couple of girlie camp-followers (technically male)

You really don't get it that there ISN'T a right and wrong in this.

I-CHOOSE-TO-AWARD-A-MAJOR-CONTRIBUTION-FOR-WINNING-A-PENALTY. END

I totally, utterly accept your view that you don't like or want that stat.

But your view is irrelevant.

You can have stats where you award players extra points for "looking hard" if you want.

That's your prerogative.

It's my prerogative to do the stats as I think fit and I will continue to do that, and people like you
just make the thread bigger, and I get loads of air-time. I can live with that.

You should know though, that the way to make these stats go away is to IGNORE THEM

So Wyc, can you help me get there before I go off to Uni
this afternoon to study philosophy? I'd really appreciate the help

Agreed. If it was only one. I know for certain there are two at the very least.

Compo's Hat Not reading Snoozeballs stats, but thought i should post this interesting article here from The Seventy Two rather than starting another stats thread.

Who are the most important players in the Championship promotion race?

http://theseventytwo.com/football-leagu ... tion-race/

Interesting they have HRK and not McAnuff in there.

More childish insults and the use of the word "I".

Maybe you should stop shoving "the world according to Snowball" down peoples throats and actually LISTEN to their opinion and maybe even consider that their opinion is better founded than yours (not all the time of course, as there has been occasions where you you have shown yourself to be correct).

Someone of your age and intellect should really be able to communicate in a far more mature manner, but for some reason you choose to post in the style of an arrogant teenage student.

Oh and I've made my point so reply away if you want to as I won't be responding.

Er yeah. I was actually offering support by suggesting that, as stats are not officially recognised by the rules of the game, an individual can have any criteria for them they want.

Following that, I was just pointing out I disagreed with your criteria, like most statistical bodies seem to.

But you are welcome to put my post in a wolf costume and f/ck it in the ass Snowball, if it makes you feel better - though I will say it makes you look rather stupid.

Wyc, all blokes like you do is COMPLAIN.

I don't see YOU doing statistical work
or actually, carefully, constructively suggesting MODIFICATIONS

You just BITCH, like a wife who wants out of a relationship.

Trawl through as many of the "Let's attack Snowball, I'm bored" threads

and actually point out where small changes have actually been suggested.

I doubt it's one post in a thousand.

I'm used to stick and the manner, repetition and predictability of the attacks.

Snowball = Liar, mong, autistic, Rain Man blah blah oxf*rd blah means you deserve no respect

and as long as I'm abused I will respond accordingly, simples.

It certainly didn't read like that and we most definitely "have history"

if you meant that though, I apologise

Wimb, Winch, whoever...

What you folks just don't seem to grasp is :

I have chosen to post some stats. I have explained them.

Absolutely, definitely you can hate them, but all you do
is turn every thread into a stupid bear-baiting squalid mess.

You KNOW a lot of this is personal. every day in some way or other
it's my CHARACTER that's attacked, even if a stat or two is added.

I would love to run an experiment where 20 people targeted some other individual to pore over
every word and engage and destroy absolutely everything they wrote. That is, more-or-less what
we have here and we have had that since my very first thread supporting Shane Long.

A sign of madness is repeating a pointless behaviour.

This is the moment where you say that's what I am doing. (I'd disagree)

Pssst, it's also what YOU are doing.

I am continuing, and will continue, because I believe in what I'm doing
and I have become ever-more determined to continue precisely BECAUSE
I'm so much attacked.

How are those thread views going? Is Shane still in the Premiership? Have we gone second yet?

Guesswork, random.

We COULD have an injury run, sendings off, a run of bad luck, anything is POSSIBLE

But meanwhile I will expect the team to average somewhere between 1.8 ppg and 2.5 ppg

as they have been doing know for about 20 games, and because I expect the sun to rise tomorrow

Don't experiments have to have a hypothesis to verify or deny? This just sounds like organised harassment.
