On the OS as well

http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~2659263,00.html

The Royals have signed experienced Reading-born Portsmouth player Hayden Mullins on loan until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has played the majority of his career in midfield, but can also operate as a defender, and he will bring more than 500 career games' worth of nous to our squad for the final ten games of the season.

He was Portsmouth's player of the season last season, and has experience of promotion out of the Championship, playing in two play-off finals and also an FA Cup final. And a very large proportion of his career has been as a Premier League player.

Hayden's young son is already a member of the Reading FC Academy, and he has come close to signing for his hometown club on a couple of occasions in the past but now finally gets the chance to don our blue and white hoops.

Director of Football Nick Hammond said, "We are delighted that Hayden has signed.

"We have known him for a long time and he has come close to signing on a few occasions in the past.

"He has great experience and also versatility. Importantly, as a person he will also be a very good fit for our group."

The deal has been fully agreed and the Royals just await ratification from the Football League.

We'll have a first interview with Hayden later today - sign up for a free Reading FC Player trial.

Good signing; adds experience and depth to the squad in a crucial area in the final 10 games of the season.

Yep. Good signing. Can't see any flaw in this, apart from the outflow of a few coppers.

Good signing. Good solid experience for the run in. Only surprised it took this long. I thought we were going to get him in 2003! Never too late I guess.

Has an air of the prodigal son to it, he's not a supporter though is he?

He's finally come home. Was he liked at West Ham or will he get some abuse if he plays for us against them?

The irony of this is Friday's Legacy knew about this days ago and beat Jonny Fordham to it, who blocked him on Twitter previously for calling him unreliable over the Wolves McDermott rumours.

HNA? 1 - 0 Jonny Fordham

Chuffed with this signing. Adds good cover for Karacan and Legs, and we can give either a rest with the games coming thick and fast.

Yep, very solid move by the club IMHO. Centre-mid isn't really our strongest department.

Happy with this. Leigertwood has been lucky with regards to injuries since he's been here. Tabb looks too lightweight as a direct replacement should Mikele get injured. Mullins adds that bit of depth in the squad.

Allegedly he has waited his whole career to sign for us (according to club's FB feed)

Remember seeing him on a night out in Reading before & I drunkenly shouted 'sign for Reading blah blah' & his m8s responded something like 'oxf*rd Reading' :|
