Cobi The irony of this is Friday's Legacy knew about this days ago and beat Jonny Fordham to it, who blocked him on Twitter previously for calling him unreliable over the Wolves McDermott rumours.

HNA? 1 - 0 Jonny Fordham

yes it's a bit pathetic he blocked me but there you go. nice to get one out there before he got hold of it, although it's not really that great an achievement. i think hob nob anyone? almost always get in ahead of jonny fordham.

The only plus to this is that he will want to put himself in the shop window, otherwise this is (probably an expensive) waste of wages. He is past his sell by date and will add nothing and nothing different to anything we currently have or more importantly how we are succesfully set up in midfield.

Not impressed.

floyd__streete Massive LOL @ the whole football transfer window thing. Presumably this is an 'emergency loan'. What specifically is the 'emergency' here? We unexpectedly find ourselves in the title race?

Great to see a local lad and supporter wearing the hoops.

not impressed? so if karacan or leigertwood get injured and were out for the rest of the season, how happy would you be with having to rely on jay tabb?

this signing makes perfect sense to me, and he can cover defence if need be as well.

mullins has experience of 2 play-off finals, winning one, and has won an fa cup. that experience could be invaluable!

loan to the end of the season with a view to a perm deal is terrific business if you ask me.

I'm a big fan of Tabb but still happy with this of course.

Short sighted. Mullins is a mercenary (now); has contributed little to Portsmouth since he signed; Portsmouth will off load anybody and everybody to save cash (especially expensive ones); he turned down the chance to join us in his prime; Tabb can cameo for Karacan; McAnuff likewise for Legs; plus Howard can do a stint; as can Bryn - they know the team/midfield structure. Plus he is probably costing a fortune in wages.

Just sceptical over this. And I couldn't give a toss for his Reading connections. So what.

5 years too late.

Still 'in McDermott/Anton we trust'.

i imagine you said the same of roberts.

fwiw, mullins the mercenary who gave nothing to portsmouth, was player of the season last season whilst surrounded by some very good players. but don't let that stop you from writing off a player before he's even kicked a ball in our colours.

Mullins >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Howard/Tabb/Gunnarsson

He's clearly come in to offer a decent option for the last 2 months of the season. We lack serious competition in the middle, and that is what he brings. Ledge and Karacan haven't been fantastic recently so it should give them a kick up the arse going into the final few games, and if needed then Mullins will come in and do a job.

We've seen it a number of times recently, experienced players add a huge amount to the squad, and if he can help out even a little in the promotion race then it'll be well worth 2 months wages.

And if he's shit then we don't have to take up the option of signing him at the end of the season.

Honestly can't see what we have to lose here.

Good thing they didn't say why he didn't sign for us the last two times.

Gonna get behind him, hopefully he bolsters the squad and can prove his worth.

Welcome.

"i imagine you said the same of roberts" - Nothing to do with the subject. i just don't rate Mullins now. My opinion? Fair enough?

Otherwise, I obviously hope it works out and I am proved totally wrong!

Had to laugh when I read. "I've waited my whole career to join Reading". :lol:

Basically he was playing a higher standard of football for ages with West Ham and Pompey and couldn't really give a sh1t about Reading. Pompey are in financial trouble, he's getting on at 32 year old (in football terms), so he moved to Reading.

He's making out like it was his dream move. (Or the OS is). :lol:

grey_squirrel Short sighted. Mullins is a mercenary (now); has contributed little to Portsmouth since he signed;

:shock: You mean apart from being named player of the season for them last year? :roll:
grey_squirrel Portsmouth will off load anybody and everybody to save cash (especially expensive ones);
Yes, and? That's not a sign he'd be a bad signing!
grey_squirrel he turned down the chance to join us in his prime;
So fecking what! He's 32, so he won't be around and first choice for 3 years. He'll be handy back up for a season or so. Even if we get promoted.

grey_squirrel Tabb can cameo for Karacan;
Yeah probably, but Mullins is better and the point wasn't cameo anyway, that's one or two games. It was playing the rest of the season if there's an injury.
grey_squirrel McAnuff likewise for Legs;
Oh dear lord! You think one of our better attacking players, and a winger to boot, would be a good choice to play defensive midfield in place of Legs? That's madness. Switching in to midfield to make room for more attacking threat with 25 minutes to go is a world of difference to starting a match there.
grey_squirrel plus Howard can do a stint;
Very obviously not wanted by the club anymore and also not a defensive midfielder.
grey_squirrel as can Bryn
Love him to bits, but his best performances in the last couple of years have all be in defence. He'll work his socks off, but he won't be good enough in midfield for a promotion chase.

grey_squirrel Plus he is probably costing a fortune in wages.
He won't break the wage structure. We don't do that. And it's for about two months. Oh god, oh god, oh god! We're going to go bust now!

What a lot of nonsense.

it does smack of a desperate move by Mullins. Not really overwhelmed by this, but Brian knows his stuff.

winchester_royal Just as an aside, has anyone ever met a group of lads on a night out that haven't come across as complete c*nts?

When at uni 'up north' I met Dion Dublin (& cronies) on a night out. He was really sound. He was a really good laugh and he had some serious muscle with him so I guess he appreciated some good natured banter rather than the trouble he had obviously come to expect.

Weirdly on the same night (different club) I also met Matt Dawson & a few other Northampton rugby players. This was in 2001 b4 he became a national celeb. He was really funny, absolutely the cheeky chappy that he comes across as on QoS. My halls buddy, Tom, was uni scrum half and idolised Daws. As a result we all knew quite a bit about his career history etc... When we saw Daws, Tom was frozen to his seat, couldn't speak, stand, move. The rest of us went and met Daws and had a good laugh with him. We then pointed out Tom and explained that he was too shy to meet his hero.

Daws bid us a good night and then we went on with our night. A couple of hours later (bit hazy) we were stood on the edge of the dance floor and Daws came over with a pint and gave it to Tom. He ruffled Toms hair and thanked him for his support. I thought this was really class. Firstly to remember the guy, secondly what he did. It meant a lot to Tom as we heard the story MANY times afterwards.
