FiNeRaIn I don't believe for a second that you or man friday are anywhere near as confident you are making out, if so, you obviously haven't been watching Reading for as long as some here, we always get oxf*rd out of it.

I would LOVE absolutely LOVE to be wrong and be called out for this post in the summer.

Sorry, I think you're mistaking me for a confident poster!!! I thought I was echoing your thoughts!

Wise man once told me, If you go through life Afraid to make a mistake, You'll Spend most of you're life doing absolutely nothing

We are flying. I am so very proud to be a reading fan after yet another fine performance. First time we've won by 4 clear goals since October 2010. Also Can't wait to see my shammers supporting mate at work on Monday.

I've been a supporter since 1998 and yes i've seen us squander chances in the past. But as previously said there really is a feeling of the togetherness we had in the 106 team in this current squad.

There will be concern and I understand you have to be realistic because we could yet implode. But you have to live for the moment and not reflect on the past and the lads have put us in with a bloody great chance of the Auto's.

Hoping to bump you in a month or two and make you look a tw@t FR :D

There's nothing wrong with caution, but frankly, I just
don't get the pessimism right now.

We are by quite a way the best side since September 17th,
a full 14 points a season better than Southampton on this run,
a run that in NO WAY can be called flukey or lucky, in fact we have had
a fair bit of BAD luck: a good goal disallowed at Blackpool when
the score was 0-0, a disallowed late goal at Palace when it was 0-0,
and a very dodgy goal against at home to Hull.

Not only are we the best side over the last 30+ games but we are still improving,
have now WWWWWWWWDW and just won 4-0 away, just brought in a very useful
squad player.

Of course it's POSSIBLE we could lose at Peterboro, fail to beat Blackpool,
then lose at West Ham, but sheesh, why look for problems before they happen?

We're going to be in the mix for 1st / 2nd / 3rd for the rest of the season.

We have a brilliant mental strength. We're experienced at promotion campaigns, play off campaigns and narrowly missing out. We score most games, have an extra gear if we need it and a great defence. Unless there's some sort of bizzare wheels falling off moment, we will be going up this season. Whether it's Champions, Runners up, or Play Off winners is unsure at this time.

And even if we don't go up this season we have new investment and will be in a fantastic postion to launch a great challenge for the title next season.

There is absolutely nothing to be worried about.

Incredibly, I'm more confident now that we've broken the winning streak.
We are perfectly positioned, have avoided the radar for ages (and seemingly we can keep doing that is SSN is anything to go by) and we could just go on WNG.

Since moving up to this division a decade ago, we've been well placed to compete for promotion seven times and got it once. That's reason to be cautious if not pessimistic. Through January and February, this season had a lot of the feel of 02-03 about it for me - brave new world, a lot of enthusiasm about the club, lots of narrowly squeaked wins. The last couple of weeks, though, I think we've moved beyond that. I honestly feel like we should be favourites for the championship at this stage. I disagree about Southampton. Yes they've been pulling off late miracles a lot, but even that hasn't stopped us massively shrinking the gap in the last ten games. If it were our miracles, we'd be saying our luck has to end some time soon. I feel that about Saints.

Have to say I can emphasise with FR here, Southampton are getting all the luck this season, and West Ham are just an overall scabby club so you just know they'll nick 2nd spot.

Perhaps I'm just too used to falling at the final hurdle as a Reading fan, but I can't shake the feeling that we're gonna get screwed at the end.

However, it's a fantastic ride atm, and one that I wasn't expecting a few months ago. Onwards and upwards.

In absolute seriousness we have 9 games left and could lose the lot

I don't think that will happen of course...

But going to Peterboro isn't easy,

Blackpool could turn us over and need the points to make the Play-offs

West Ham away is obviously massive and will be VERY tough

Leeds are improving all the time, so won't be a kick-in

Brighton away looks very hard

Southampton away is obviously (at least on paper) our hardest game

Forest may be low in the table but they will be desperate for points

Palace have the third best defence in the league, definitely a tough nut to crack.

Away to Birmingham is obviously a really tough game

I worry about Peterboro!!

Win the next 4 & we're 96.5% promoted. Simples.

I'd take 8 points from the next 4. I think it's important we dont lose to Sham. Even a draw with them could be spot on for us by the time we play them.

We'll beat Leeds. Their play-off chance will be a big fat zero by the time we play them. Pretty much hanging by a thread now anyway. Realistically they need 20 points from 9 games. They're just not good enough to do that IMO.

I don't want to eat these words but I think last year's failure, McDermott's tactics and our position right now means we'll be okay. A draw at West Ham would do me right now.

30 years watching reading actually. judging by the nonsense you put on here i wouldn't think you were even that old.

the past has nothing to do with the now. this is a very good side. it's solid. it bosses games. it stops others from playing and it creates chances. this side would have beaten us at wembley last season.

Just looking at the fixtures...coupled with West Ham's lack of form, it's not entirely inconceivable that a month today, we could be promoted.

Well, given that we will only have 2 games left by then, it is certainly a possibility

Sometimes you get a feeling that either good or bad things will happen, this season after we beat Middlesborough away I had a feelng we'd do it, there is something about the team that says we WILL GET AUTOMATIC. West Ham have fooked it up, they had their chance but the pressure got to them, they will FAIL IN THE PLAYOFFS.

Over the next few games I expect to see us consolidate our position and West Ham drop away. This is our year,
