I couldnt give a rats about any of this lack of recognition. It's a little like watching Keegan getting a crash course prior to us dumping Everton out of the FAC last year. I personally love it that

A) we are now so under the radar others are starting to at least notice us in provisional second place.
B) we have had the financial prudence that is not going to implode this club- unlike others.
C) the team is the sum of its parts. Steady, workmanlike and no striker setting the world on fire
D) a draw is now seen as a fail in some quarters of the press.

Ian Royal Kebe - hasn't scored enough, missed a fair few games
McAnuff - hasn't scored enough
Hunt - hasn't scored enough
Church - hasn't scored enough
ALF - hasn't scored enough
Roberts - hasn't been here long enough
Ledge - workhorse that isn't going to stand out in this sort of thing
Karacan - see Ledge
Harte - not scored a lot and been in and out the team
Mills - young, not a big name, in and out the side
Cummings - young, not a big name, in and out the side.

Pearce, Gorkss & Federici are possible contenders, but none of them really stand out from the others and there are plenty of bigger name or higher profile players in their position out there.

It's pretty obvious why we don't have anyone in the list. We have no players who've played a lot who are really stand out performers for us. None are fantastic, most are very good.

As much as it pains me, I completely agree. Especially your last para.

Hopefully the lack of such recognition - especially of players like Feds (who have been better this season than the 2 Ex England keepers at this level), Pearce and Gorks - will spur the team on in the last 10 games to basically stick it to those "experts" who constantly ignore/write our team off.

agree with that, but change 'team' for club, and insert 'every season'.

Just took a squint at the Actim Index rankings. I know a lot people don't give them much credence, but they are the only attempt at an objective measure of relative player performance available. Nine Reading players listed in the top one hundred as follows:

Rankings up to and including Leicester (H)
8 Adam Federici (top ranked keeper by some way)
10 Alex Pearce (second ranked defender by one place over Liam Rosenior! )
37 Jobi McAnuff
44 Kaspars Gorkss
61 Jem Karacan
63 Jimmy Kebe
64 Mikele Leigertwood
83 Noel Hunt
89 Shaun Cummings

Surprised Harte doesn't make a showing.

The fact that none of our players are really recognized means that the 'big shots' at West Ham and So'ton will be red faced come the end of the season. Hopefully

Notice how Sky had people in the studio doing West Ham & Saints games today yet Reading didn't. They still seem to expect Reading to screw it up & the bigger 2 clubs get their rightful place back.

Possibly a little harsh. Last week they spoke about us quite a bit. Charlie Nicholas was particularly complimentary towards us and Brian McDermott. As for predictions, well as said already, they will always favour the bigger fish. It only adds fuel to our prove them wrong mentality.

Even in the Sky highlights just then they showed the draw at Elland Road before showing our game. They do it every time.

Ah well never mind. It's not done us any harm in the past..

In the Final Score studio they were very complimentary to us today, especially when we were top briefly.

I think they started showing ours before the West Ham match after that for the remaining 7 billion times they showed those clips.

I'd guess that has a lot to do with Barnsley.

"Is it time to take Reading's title-charge seriously?"

No, please don't. Everybody just ignore us, do not take us seriously. Pay no mind that we're in 2nd.

Is it time to take Reading's Play Off charge seriously?

Is it time to take Reading's automatic Promotion charge seriously?

Is it time to take Reading's title charge seriously?

Is it time to take Reading survivial charge seriously?

Is it time to take Reading top half charge seriously?

Is it time to take Reading's European place charge seriously?

:D

Don't worry people! The good people of KUMB have written us of again.

Have you SEEN how hard our run in is? And we have away games! And we might as well not even bother going to Upton Park. Arrogant f@@@ers.

Predicting games in the championship is a fool's errand - we know we can beat anyone. Unfortunately, we also know that we can lose to anyone as well (hi, Aldershot!). Anything could happen yet.

What happens to Saints if Lambert picks up an injury? It would be stretching it to label them a one-man team, but he is HUGELY important to what they do. What if Reading lose the first of their difficult run of games? Their last 9 games include us, Blackpool, Saints, Brum, Brighton, Leeds and Palace. Plenty to play for, and even if we fall short, another chance in the play-offs.

Keep calm and hoof on!
