soggy biscuit Jonny Mad must be tearing his wig out. Had he held on for a few more months he could have doubled the price

Was thinking that, but then again we wouldnt of had the financial muscle to sign Roberts and keep Kebe

No he wouldn't. Without the TSI money we wouldn't be where are now are.

This is true, but I still think, knowing Brian, that we could have mounted a challenge. In a way, if we do go up, it's slightly a shame that it will be put down to all our new money, where in fact we haven't spent that much yet.

And you really think he would have turned Wolves down and hung around with us (minus some more key players) if TSI hadn't turned up?

He didn't turn Wolves down; they never invited him for interview, let alone made him an offer.

Wolves did contact the club though, and if Brian hadn't been in contract negotiations i suspect it would have gone further.

Fair enough; but there's suspecting and there's the facts of the matter. And then there's what RoyalBlue said.

Either way, judging by the way his past frustrations shone through in his post TSI interview, I very much doubt that McDermott would have hung around for much longer had TSI not appeared on the scene.

If Reading don't go up, McDermott will leave. His stock may never be as high as it is now and he is 50 years old, one 5 year deal with someone like Villa could set him up for life. Football is football, business is business, you have to take opportunities when they come. He could have a bad season with us next year, get sacked and end up at Wycombe. Look at the likes of Danny Wilson, John Gregory and Brian Little, they were all tipped to be England manager once, God knows where they all now.

That said I think wins against Peterborough Blackpool and West Ham will see us as good as up and he will be here to see the transition....if it happens!

does anyone know when this deal is happening?

Agree with the above, we need to go up as if not Brian will go to the Prem in the summer. As for the Wolves thing, had the TSI takeover not come along just perhaps Wolves would not have looked at BMc as we were not tearing up trees at the time, well not by the standards of now.

I'm not so sure - I reckon he'll give it a season without rebuilding, and with some money to throw at it, then, if we've not gone up by Summer 2013, it'll be bye bye Bri
