1871 Royal What if we beat the points total? That would be some team!

Ian Royal I guessed that, but there was an opportunity for sarcasm so I took it.
I think we can all safely agree that if we get 107+ points in any Championship season (or 106 & 100+ goals) then it will have been right up there with 2006.

MmmMonsterMunch I guess I am more excited because its completely unexpected. Plus I guess there's more cause for optimism in that IF we did go up, we could actually compete & stay there for a few years hopefully.
We ought to be aiming to be a yo-yo club now ala West Brom really.
Hopefully we can do a Stoke though!

How can we be more optimistic than when we went up with the best team EVER to grace the second tier ?
A number of clubs (QPR being the best example) have spent a lot and still can't guarantee being competitive.

Ian Royal IMO staying up is almost totally dependent on very shrewd signings. Brian's a wiz with the relatively cheap deals. But this is also the man who was in charge of our scouting when we signing Halford, Fae, Cisse, Kebe, Rosenior & Matejovsky to keep us up. Half of which weren't good enough for this level. So it'll be a test for him.
2006 we had a super team and all the momentum in the world, so comfortably staying up was always fairly likely regardless of our signings IMO. Just think how we'd have done if Kits hadn't got nobbled by Boro. We'd have definitely made Europe.
Monster - being the best team in the Chumpionship means F-all I agree. Being the best ever team in the second tier is very meaningful.
