NTRoyal Didn't see as Kenny only got about 5 seconds on MOTD did but did the Suarez handball get defended? And did he also say something along the lines of 'he's not a cheat?'

Well you've made your mind up on that one then.

Suarez's only crime was celebrating when he knew it came off his arm. And we'd all do that. It's not like he palmed it in, it just hit his arm and went in.

Agreed, cmonurz. It's not as if Suarez has form for cheating by handling the ball.

The problem Liverpool had was that if Dalgleish didn't get the job then he'd have been a distraction for whoever did get the job. He was probably the right man to take over at the time as it looked from the outside that the club needed to get its heart and soul back. There was no better person to do that than Dalgleish.

Long term he's probably not the right man, but I would argue that he's got them back on the right track.

They should've taken O'Neil on when they had the chance!

...maybe the other transgression has been 'taken into account' then?

... listen to what 'Trev' is saying in the clip - ".....there's a clear push" and the little matter of Suarez's knee in the defender's back - so it would/should have been chalked off even if he didn't put it in with part of his arm?

...ah but forgot there for a moment - that's probably allowed in Uruguay? 8)

Was listening to Talksport last night, with Stan.

He made a good point about Kenny....saying that at the time when they wanted the owners out, the fans weren't "feeling" Hodgson and so Kenny taking over was the best thing for the club, in that current situation - to lift the atmosphere around the club and boost everyones confidence with the return of a "legend" BUT he should have been replaced at the end of the season as he isn't the man to take Liverpool in to the top 4 or on to win the league.

Then there was a classic from a Liverpool laying into Collymore saying "i thought you were one of us? - You're supposed to look after your own, Stan, not slate them"

Baines post re Suarez’s previous. Really? That’s your playground argument? I thought you were clever and stuff.

FoC – no-one ever fouls anyone, do they? Suarez was labelled a cheat in the post I replied to, I simply pointed out that if any of us had a cross go in off our arm, we wouldn’t be asking the officials to strike the goal off.

Yeah, but I'm also lazy. So when there's an easy way of ramming the point home, I'm liable to take it.

Well that's it, you usually do have a point, this time not.

..ah - maybe it was your use of 'Suarez's only crime' I misunderstood then? 8)

Pretty low level skillz there though -

- finest example I can remember ... yonks ago was Charlie George (vs Spuds or Citeh I think) - challenges for high ball in area ball - a 'bare' arm goes up and punches ball away - pen awarded - uproar.
That day:- 'Gooners' in long sleeve shirts; oppos in a much shorter version - - Charlie seen walking away in the background - huge grin - - - rolling his shirt sleeve down! :D :D

Classy!

Robin Friday did it, Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank did it - and they both scored and got away with it.

It's not new

And I raise you - Thierry Henry

Fair play to the ugly bastard, he's really dropped his outrageous biased he displayed early in his career in punditry.

RE; the Suarez comment, I don't like LOLerpool. At all. But just remember watching MOTD and being suprised that there was no comment about it, would have thought it would have came up in post match interviews, that's all.

What do you think there is to defend? He didn't push the ball into the net, it just hit his arm and went in.

Never said there was anything to defend. However I expected Kenny to go on the defensive if asked.

Dalglish also complained that a decisive point in the match was referee Lee Mason's refusal to award Luis Suárez a second goal when the sides were tied at 1-1, the official ruling that the Uruguayan had put the ball into the net with his arm. "There was no rhyme or reason why the second goal should have been chalked off, it wasn't handball," said Dalglish, who thought the ball had come off the striker's shoulder.

In reply to Starfish:
Whereas other managers including those paragons of fair play Wenger and Ferguson NEVER say anything derogatory about anybody, especially if it involves any of their own players.
"I did not see it" was a phrase invented for those two.

I agree with you. And 100%. My quoting the piece I did was just to (try to) answer the question that NTRoyal seemed to want answered. The quote from Dalglish, I suspect, was directly after the game before he had a chance to look at the different replays of the incident, and the heat of the moment skews matters dramatically, of course. But if that were the case, I believe it would have been better had he adopted SAF's and AW's favourite line.

It was a penalty. It was funny seeing the Liverpool fans coming out of the woodwork after being quiet for a few weeks to whinge about that decision. Last year, at Stamford Bridge we had two stone-wallers against Liverpool and Andre Marriner didn't give either. Didn't hear the Liverpool fans moaning then...
